So I received this last week. I've never owned a late 90's SEGA System before due to their reliability and amount of people out there that can actually repair them when they go wrong (which inevitably they will) but having seen this listed on Gumtree for a very reasonable price I couldn't resist.

It spent a few days in my garage and was working perfectly. I removed the 25" MS9 monitor and game cage and stored in the house as this would make the cab lighter for when the time came to manoeuvre the cab around the garden as some lifting was required.

Today me and a couple of mates moved it into my games room. Unfortunately two IC's on the CPU board are now reporting bad (IC60 & IC83) and I'm getting a few corrupt graphics due to this. Hopefully I'll find someone to replace those faulty IC's. Recommendations welcome!

Overall it's in great condition. I'll be much happier when it's FULLY working. Love bit of HOTD me!

Nice, looks to be the same shape as the empty Virtua Cop cab I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

Planning to Mame/PC mine due to the reliability issues, and so I can play Mad Dog Mcree, etc.

I'd rather not mame it if I can help it as I prefer the original hardware. I also hear that those AimTrax guns are hard to get working well but I would be very interested to hear how you get on with that just incase I do ever look at the mame option.acidburn2016-04-23 20:54:08

Issues I've found with them so far is distance from the screen, I have been trying it with a 43" rear projection TV and you have to go quite far back from the TV to be able to aim all over the screen.

The other issue I had for a while was it appeared to keep losing its calibration, worked out that some of the games wanted to run at a different resolutions and that would mess it up, got them all running at the same res and that fixed it.

Will have to document what I do with it, but got a few other projects to do first.
