Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and here is my little introduction.

I have been in the games industry since 1994 when I joined Sony to launch PlayStation console in Europe.

My initial learning of the games industry was going with some gamers to the Arcades that used to be in

Piccadilly Circus and soon after spending lots of time and pound coins I loved the industry, where I have been

until now, one way or another. I used to visit Tokyo in many occasions and loved the arcades over there

and specially seeing in the electronics stores all the Boards and systems you could buy to build your own.

I received a very nice Zaccaria cocktail table machine that plays Phoenix as a present 13 years ago, when I left

Sony. I have used it on and off throughout these years and I proudly display it on the family room.

Recently I tried to start it up and it would not start up, no sound, nothing!, so at the moment I am trying to figure it out.

I am not good at electronics but I have checked the fuse above the power supply and it seems OK. If I cannot

figure it out perhaps someone may want it to get it working for themselves or for the parts.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Juan

Hi and welcome to UKVAC!

First things first do you have a multimeter? You can test to see if you have a power supply issue or if the fault is located elsewhere.

Secondly I LOVED the first Sony Playstation! It was awesome!

Hi Oliver,

I am afraid I don't have a multimeter.

Some of my favourite games from the first PlayStation where the conversions from the NAMCO arcade games like Ridge Racer, Tekken, etc. Sony tried to create a home arcade experience. Unfortunately the consequence of so many Arcades closing in later years from my point of view is that they were cool places to hang around and play with other people.

Thanks for your quick response

Juan

Welcome

As advised above, get yourself a multimeter, even a basic £5 one from Maplins would be enough for now.

Then get some pics up of the Phoneix and I am sure we can talk you through some basic diagnostics to get her back up and running again.

Hi Juan,

Welcome to UKVAC. With the excellent members we have I'm certain that you'll be playing Phoenix again very soon. I love that game - something enthralling about blatting the swooping aliens :)

Cheers

Thanks for all the welcoming replies and sorry for not getting back earlier to you.

I have looked at getting a multimeter (from Maplin) just to check my machine and I have to confess that I have no clue of the difference between the many available, other than their price!

Can I get some advise on this? Could the guys in Fleet help me out to troubleshoot the problem.

I am thinking to give the machine away to someone who may want to add it to their collection. I don't expect any money but it would have to be collected from Farnham. Do you know anyone that may want to have it?

Cheers

Juan

Welcome back dude.

A £20 one will suffice. Secondly if you do decide to give it away or sell it just put it in the Free or For Sale sections on here buddy
