What a pleasant surprise to find an old school forum thats active and isnt Reddit/Discord/TikTok/TSMNFKAT
Makes me almost feel nostalgic!
I’m originally a seaside boy so grew up in the laties and early nineties surrounded by arcades of all types. Mainly bandits and pushers but plenty of great games.
The standout for me was the four player TMNT and the sit down mechanical Sega thunder blade down the Palace Casino. Had a lot of time for SF2 but not a lot of credits..
Whenever I return there now, the only arcade ‘game’ I see is some flappy bird ripoff port. The rest are all bandits and fobts. What happened to all the arcade games??? Maybe someone can fill me in. Seems a shame the youth of today are deprived of the fun digging under machines to find 10p for a plug on mad dog mcree.
So my project this year is to dig out my old mame roms if i still have them backed up somewhere, and start to build a cab. But i’ll start off small so just a mame pc to begin with. I probably have the space for a cab and my 16 month old liked the Pandora down the local putt putt so the missus cant say no.
Any advice on where to start and guides/pointers gratefully received
