Not sure what to put here. I'm introverted and autistic, socialisation has never been my strong suit.
I don't have a storied history with arcades like most others here nor do I have years of experience or a big collection - I guess I'm "one of the young ones". I frequented arcades enough as a kid and I've always loved games and gaming by extension. I might ask dumb questions but I'm trying my best.
As hyperfixations are typical with autism, I have a major hyperfixation on Derby Owners Club. I'm quite simply obsessed with it; and its what spearheaded this entire arcade obsession in the first place (well I've always liked arcades but DOC turned it up to 11!). I'll be honest I've never actually played the game; I just have a hyperfixation on horses/horse racing/horse racing games (what a combo) and saw this blog post about it back in 2022 while looking for something unrelated. It snowballed from there and really I couldn't tell you why I love the game so much, I just do.
I have all the parts needed for it except the 4 Naomi consoles and 3 more cartridges and if you're in the UKvac Facebook group there's a chance you've seen my post about it (from Clara Lotte - that's me!) To my knowledge it'll be the only one running in the UK when it's ready. I really jumped into the deep-end with it, going from "watching from afar" with regards to the arcade community to building my own machine of quite a complex game. Shoutout to Bobby Dilley and his discord server for putting up with my constant questions.
