A big hello from another Manchester resident Chris. And if there was one game that anyone could have, just one, then Outrun would surely be up there. The music is well, awesome. Ah, the halcyon days of buying games for a couple of hundred quid from operators and the small ads in Loot and Coinslot. Who remembers Loot? I hope you get the Outun working soon. Always check out the power supply first and get a good quality multimeter if you don't already have one. Always start from the wall and work backwards. Lots of good repair advice on here and online. Here's one channel I enjoy for general repair advice: https://www.youtube.com/@LyonsArcade
Hello, I'm in Prestwich.
Yes, Loot and Exchange & Mart magazine bring back memories. Having to do you best with just a brief description and no photos.

5.72v out from the PSU with no load.

I will check out the you tube channel too. I wouldn't mind seeing if I can hook up a Raspberry Pi to test the monitor independently.

Hi and welcome .nice story
I’d say a new switcher to start with and maybe put a smartypi into it .you could play all them games you like and have your pcb repaired too .
That’s how mine sits at present

Thank you. Yes, i have decided to split into a number of areas to check through. I think the board and the monitor might need repair. I can see the red LED light on power but saw no output to screen. I also remember the steering wheel used to shudder when 1st turning on but nothing. So far I have tested a line out from radio to the sound amplifier and am getting sound through the cabinet speakers. Turning up the monitor to full brightness gives a very purple screen (no game connected). THe PSU is giving out 5.72V on the 5v Rail. I cant easily see if I can dial down or if 5.72V is ok ? the 12V is ok.

Do you know if the game will load/run with no controllers attached. I.e. just Power and monitor output connected. So I can rule out the other bits. ?

There are so many games id love to have. An extra cab or too would be nice. I prefer the days when you didn't need to go through hours of walkthrough before you could just start playing a game.
5.72v is a tad high, but if you've measured the voltage unloaded (PSU disconnected) it might float a bit high, or if it's measured at the PSU itself (losses along the cabling can cause it to drop). If it's measured on the board powered on, it would benefit from being lowered a bit. About the blank screen, do you get a screen when you put the game in test mode?

Thank you, I will test voltage again with the game powered on. Should i look for a 5.0v or a little higher are there regulators onboard.
Unfortunately, no test switch is connected. I'll have to look at the pin outs to see if i can put one in place.
