Hi this isn't worthy being claimed as a fix but put it up as a reference.
My mate has the above machine in the deluxe version converted to an LCD monitor and it came up with I think error 24- unable to find GD ROM or something like that. He bought a couple of GD ROMs off of eBay and asked me to come in and swap it over as he's able to open again. I tried both in and the same error was displayed, I even swapped the disc reading unit from one to the other but no dice.
For whatever reason I put the machine in test(not game test) and went through each one having a look, almost immediately I noticed it was saying system bad- DIMM0 bad. Didn't know what that meant but checked google and the DIMM is some sort of dual memory. So I popped open the box the GD ROM was connected to and buried under an inch of dust was what looked like a double sided PC ram card which was hanging out of it's socket. Anyway cleaned everything up and plugged it back in and the game powered up fine. Granted that the first load up took ages but when I powered down to try the other GD ROMs it loaded almost instantaneously. Happy days.
