How to reset win10 password?

A mate's Dad passed away recently and he needs to get into his laptop, but it's setup with a login password that he doesn't know. Anyone know the best way to get into the lappy without destroying any data?

I'm just downloading 'Recover my password' by Lazesoft but have no idea if this is any good. Anyone know? The free version also only works with Home edition Windows I think, and I don't know what version is running on the lappy, so it may not work.

Just looking for some advise as to how best solve this problem, please.

Hey Big10p,

I generally use Offline NT Password & Registry Editor.

The other one is used was Hirens Boot Disk on it.
That has lots of tools on it.

If all else fails and the laptop isn't encrypted you can always remove the hard disk and use a usb-sata adaptor to read the contents on another computer

Ed, those apps don't seem to mention win10. Any idea if they work on it?

Chunksin, that's clever thinking.

Will try that if I can't find a software solution.

The first one does Windows 10.
Works from boot disk so nothing will be harmed.
Good other solution from Rich Chunksin though.
