I would really like to pickup a megadrive again but would like to use it with a everdrive cart.
I prefer the megadrive 1 console (pal asian or J is my favourite looking one)
But would it still need to be modded to play the different region roms?
Whats the best model for the everdrive or doesnt it matter if its modded
Thank you :)FinalFight2021-09-05 21:52:31

I built Ian a jamma one for a laugh a few years back too that was a mega drive 2 with most of the same mods
There a pretty easy console to work on and mod compared to some of the others like the wondermega and pc engine

The pal Asia one is a model one but runs on a UK mains wall wart
There's a few revisions of motherboards some have a better RGB chip and some have a better sound chip I can't remember all the info now but there's videos on you tube about them

The first model is the most disirable but the UK one looks naff compared to the jap/Asia ones

The mega drive two was ideal for a jamma project as it's cheaper and you can't see it when it's in a cab

There's one on eBay now ste
has the wrong controller should be a blue start button to Match the blue reset button but not a bad price

Aha, it's the audio that goes downhill in later revisions of the model 1.
