Morning All,

Hope you're all having a nice Xmas break?

Mine has brought some free time to sort out my MiSTer set up. Frustratingly - although not entirely unexpectedly - I'm now staring down several rabbit holes :)

How can I put it?

Imagine - in theory - some hypothetical guy was looking for a well-curated selection of ROMs, available in a single, easy-to-download package... where might that guy look?

I've heard there are loads of ROMsets for individual systems on Archive.org, and maybe some rPi images on Arcade Punks and the like. But this guy doesn't need every single ZX Spectrum game, for example, let alone all 3000 pieces of software released for the 486. The main thing would be the relevant arcade ROMs. But if the complete package would fit in a 256 Gb (or 128 Gb) image, that would be ideal. Erm, I read somewhere that those are the sizes of SD card that folks typically have lying about.

EDIT: Another question a noob might ask is: will packages put together for other systems be OK here, or is there anything else to consider?

Interested to hear your thoughts and tips. Feel free to PM!

Cheers,

R

All arcade games download automatically. You need to add Arcade Offset in the menu.

Rom sets are available to that person on Achive.com. There is a curated list of links somewhere but I can’t seem to find it.

Amigavision is great for all Amiga stuff. I downloaded a load of Saturn and N64 stuff yesterday which I’ve been enjoying.

I think the Darksoft ROMs work for Neogeo.

I have a 512 gb memory card which is nearly full with. PSX takes up most of it.

Thanks Pooman! Finding collections that are compatible and optimal can be tricky without a steer.

The trouble with the internet these days is there's so much stuff on it, and nothing ever seems to disapear.

Then, of course, there's the tyranny of choice, and having too much of a good thing.

Eventually (maybe), I'll have the time to dial in just the games I'm likely to play.

Not sure if mister uses particular flavors or sets but I do have some nice CLEAN sets for SNES/Megadrive/PC Engine etc.
I also did my own set of the top 100 by IGN reviews. The other option is to find the everdrive sets as they dont have 50 of the same rom !
Just PM if you want clean sets. For the DC I have all the pal games in some format or other. Its a shame the coinops people dont do a mister build as I am very impressed with there pi and Windows set ups, as they choose the better games ! I personally know a few people with misters and seemed nothing but hassle for them. So I just bought a few retro consoles and built an emulation pc, but I do get the mister thing !

How's the mister looking these days from a coverage perspective? Things progressed into more of the 90s era games, SF2 etc. or is the focus still on the classics?

I think Jotego is working on CPS3 otherwise more classics keep coming. Splatterhouse arrived recently.

Console wise we are up to Saturn, PSX and N64.

Mortal Kombat / NBA Jam etc Midway boards are nearly here but looks like they will need dual ram.
