I've been trying this one on MAME with a SNES pad with the ABXY buttons set up as the cooker knob directions and the Right shoulder button as fire, works ok, may try for a high score

Cool, can you hold 2 buttons down at once to get the diagonals?

Yeah that's what I do, I suppose if I used a more modern controller I could use a second analogue stick but holding down buttons works fine if not perfect, I still want to try out a cooker knob for real at some point to see what I am missing!

If you can find a pattern that works it gets a bit easier and the score doubling helps enormously.
There was a cab in a small arcade in town way back when. I managed to get well over 100K (can't remember exactly, it was 35 years ago!) but died on the last round before another doubling and within a few days the cab went as I was the only regular player and the takings were pitiful.

Nice score, did you take a photo with your film camera at the time that you can scan and upload? ;)

Since I got my Sheriff I have been happily playing it so haven't dismantled it for repainting or to service the controls but they definitely need some work... think I'm nearing the max score I can get whilst having controls that aren't perfect.

Player 1 has a loose stick but a fairly reliable cooker knob; sometimes it doesn't go to the direction you point to without some encouragement. Player 2 has a stiffer, more responsive joystick but the cooker knob is really unreliable (although it's improved after a couple of games). All needs a dismantle and rebuild/tighten with some new microswitches I think.

I've upped my score a little again but will wait for more of a jump before posting.

Not much of a improvement but new score to beat 50,290.
Its nice to break the 50k mark but it gets extremely hard at this point.

All my high scores have been made on my upright so far which has the inferior joystick in my opinion so might start playing on the sega sheriff now.
