I have around £250 in cex vouchers that have been sitting here for quite a while and i dont like leaving them around too long incase they go missing/ fade or something
smiley36.gif

I bought a nintendo wii u i thought was really good besides not having alot of games out besides the obvious nintendo character ones.
I seen a switch in the shop playing mario karts but looked exactly the same as the wii u to me :/
Is it worth getting the switch and is there more games than the wii u?

Cheers

Been thinking the same thing myself. My Wii U has been sat idle for sometime, and I'm wondering if it is much better?

I love my switch. Bought a ps4 and never use it. The switch is so easy to pick up and put down. I didn't have a wii u so all the games are new to me but there are so many other games that weren't on the wii u.

There are 4 guys in work who now have a switch who are either pc or ps4 gamers and they love it too. I think it's a great system that makes it easy to dip in and out of games

The switch is brilliant, if you imagine having a great little console and then to be able to play those games on the move...since having kids I don’t get to sit in front the tv for hours but I can sit on the sofa with the switch “watching” the kids haha

I have a wii u and been debating the same thing. I use it for Mario kart 8, new Zelda, Mario 3D world, captain toad.
I won’t be buying a switch until the new one comes out next year. Currently the games are basically the same as the wii u.

Thanks for all the replys.. I still dont know what to do :/ i was going to spend some on ps4 games but seems a waste as most games are cheaper new in other shops so the best option would be to buy a console.. I suppose if i dont play it i could move it on

theres 2 stores in liverpool and i couldnt believe how bad the stuff was compared to me in bootle strand.. They even had a ps4 arcade stick i the window with all food stuck to it ??
I know a while back there was a price error in shops where loads of people got the switch really cheap and they took them to cex to sell.. So im thinking if i ask for one that looks new i might get a good one

What kind of price are they asking for a decent condition one?

In related news, I was looking at nVidia Shield consoles on ebay. Know nothing about them, but they look like they would be pretty nifty for retro gaming. I assume all the emulators out on Android work on it. Anyone have one of these things? Are they still being made? Are they any good?

Loads of brand new ones on Facebook marketplace for £225 or so.

EE were doing a free switch with certain phones last month and it seems they've all ended up there!

Hi pal. TO try and add some context to your dilemma...
I had a WiiU, we had lots of games for it, mainly the mainstay, kid friendly games that we played together.
Then we got a Switch. And, yes, we have bought some of the games, which are basically rereleases with some shiny bolt ons.

But where it shines out brightest are;
The screen when in handheld mode is just 1000% better than the weak WiiU one.

Being able to be playing it, then have to go out, nad take it with you is just unbeatable. I have two kids, MrsM and I both work, and end up where one parent has to take one kid to 'insert various sporting/activity' with the other one in tow. They just bring the switch and 2hours of ballet spectating has never been so good!

The downloadable/indie stuff has some real hidden gems, both in new games but a twist on some of the classics, like playing Donkey Kong in caravan mode, etc.

We have never looked back. The kids still fire up the WiiU every now and then for a game we didn't replicate on the Switch, but mainly it Switch all the way for us.

Some of the special edition releases have been quite special too if that's your thing.

Your choice..

Yes all emus work fine on it along with Kodi etc. Nice piece of kit, I use mine every day.

Might look into getting a used one, then. Think I bought the Android PCE emu some time ago, but currently nothing to play it on (my phone is crap, and I hate touchscreen controls). Fancy a play on Devil Crash pinball...

You should get one with a controller and a remote for sub £150.

I dropped on with mine for £100 in mint condition from Tyke on J+.

There well worth getting imo.

Ah, right. I was really thinking about the handheld one. Looks good for some on-the-go retro gaming. Looks to be discontinued though, and used ones on ebay seem to be selling for a fair bit.

Cant comment on owning the switch as we havent bought one yet but from listening to podcasts all the games seem like they are old wii u ones or old console conversions

We bought a wii u that the kids never realy bothered with

As an alternative
The first revision of ps vita with the oled screen is pretty good but i think sony are stopping supporting it on ps plus january 2019 so no more free games
There is still indy stuff on the stall
And a decent back catalog of games i think you can hack them to play mame stuff

Not sure i would want anything as expensive as a switch from cex i dont trust them to test things properly
i would want a new one
Cex is ok for games/dvds
Most the consoles or handhelds in the cex stalls by me are dirty scratched up rubbish and are priced close to retail price anywayrobotech2018-12-16 07:12:45
