Having finally found an old 14" art tv/vcr combo in my local charity shop I am trying to connect it to my old Atari VCS via RF but unfortunately the tv has no remote control and I am unable to access any menu functions that allow me to search and tune in for the Atari. It has a scart on the back which I cannot connect to so rf is the only option at the moment.

The tv is a Pacific PVTV361 so not a well known name, I believe they are rebranded Alba but not 100% sure on that.

Anyone got any suggestions for how to progress - im not throwing money at this so cheap options only, if any are available of course! I tried an rf to hdmi connector previously on my modern tv but it still didn't give a good image so am back to trying to go old-skool and use a crt. I could go down the composite-mod route but the Atari is an original heavy-sixer and very rare so would like to keep it original if possible.

thanks for the reply;ies - the original model number was incorrect as noted above so it is PVTV361.

I have found limited info both on the tv and the universal remote I am trying - there are plenty of sites giving remote control codes for this tv, well, the brand anyway, but they seem to give different codes each time, and also they are 4 digit codes and as far as I can tell - there is very limited info on this old universal remote so I have been unable to find a proper manual for it - this remote needs a 3 digit code! I am going to try to use the remote with a different tv as if I can tune that in at least I should know the remote is working!

I'd also crack the set open and take a bunch of photos of the PCB to try and figure out what its a rebadge of. Might be able to find a compatible remote and a service manual that way.

If you look at the PVTV1452 model it looks same apart from lighter silver colour

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387406876241

https://remotes-world.com/products/...giE-586DKh7QnleOuqMpzbU33Q4evd1KBQIGurjB-PGTV

No one seems to list PVTV361 which is issue I always used to get, always seem to pick up oddball model of stuff but above link has remote numbers for 1452 model

remote with this 361 like yours https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267033026952 has remote with it which is darker colour of this one but looks same and is for the PVTV1452 but lighter colour so I would say it's same and would work 361

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267033026952

This looks like Bush version lol https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356253187459

https://remotes-world.com/products/bush-combi-btv18sil-va remote for that looks exactly same too which gives you loads more models its used on

if you put that remote number in on ebay you get a few listed and more makes like Ferguson, Orion and probably another 30 makes lol if searched enough https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2332490.m570.l1313&_nkw=076ROCH750+&_sacat=0

I would also give matsui a try.

The codes for the remotes are pretty specific so you need to deffo use the right ones for the remote. What model is that?

Unfortunately the remote is pretty old, the make is ‘classic’ and there is a sticker inside the battery case that has a ref number but searching is not giving me anything useful really.

I’m at the point where I may just give up and use the tv via scart with something else and put the vcs back into a cupboard…

After all that work it would be a travesty if I didn't take your advice - I have ordered a 076R0CH750 remote off eBay for a tenner - see if it works!

finally - good news! Got the remote as suggested, didn't work. Well, a few of the buttons did so I could get to the tune-in menu but couldn't actually do anything. Took the remote apart and gave everything a good clean but no improvement. In desperation I pulled one of the buttons off the rubber bit as it had a conductive part to it and used that manually on the circuitboard and it worked!!

But it wouldn't find the Atari - sat there for ages with the bit pressed on the 'fine-tune' button but it still didn't see it. Nearly an hour of this and gave up, decided to get rid of the Atari as was fed up trying to get it to work.

So, went to unplug the Atari and realised I had plugged it in but not switched it on at the plug. Did this, fine-tuned and it found it!

The remote still isn't fully functioning but all I needed it for was the tuning in so hopefully will never need it again.

Thanks very much for all the help and advice, a happy ending!
