On going Electrocoin Centi ...

Currently in process of working on my Electrocoin Centi. When I originally got it, it had led a very hard life. It had last been used for someones art project / custom game launch. Removing the vinyl wrap of that revealed it had at one point been an SNK P.O.W. The control panel had also been Swiss cheesed with a 6 button Streetfighter 2 button layout also with starpoint buttons. So it had led a varied and busy life. It was fairly solid though and came with a Hantarex 9000 chassis and tube that managed to get working.

Initially I tided it up and had it as Neo Geo MVS / MVS single board in it for a couple of years. Then I put SF2 Championship Edition board in and changed the marquee and buttons to match . But eventually I also picked up a Electrocoin Midi, and stood next to it I started to want it to look 'more original' and more like it's little brother.

So recently decided to get some original artwork from Olly, the Unigame marquee and the CP overlay to match the original look from the Electrocoin sales flyers.

This involved having to do a lot of work on the Control panel to fill and make good the control panel and button holes to ensure the vinyl had a smooth surface. The previous perspex that someone had put on the top layer of the CP was cut up and used to create both a brace and button mount below the chassis and bonded on to allow holes to be filled from above.

It was a faff and a lot more work than it should have been but decided to keep the 6 button layout as this will become my universal horizontal jamma cab for various set ups including RGB-PI, some original PCBS and Neo Geo MVS Board. The Midi will be for vertical etc.

It's starting to look much better anyway, just need to look at a bezel next but having problems finding the original Centi one. Have discussed possibly getting a larger version of the Midi 3 stripes done if not. It needs something as too much black space around monitor really.

RGB-PI needs a dedicated coin button and advises against coin units due to potential voltage draw down... so this afternoon added a coin button via a non-cut mod (using the empty 2nd coin column). Coin mech is now disconnected but have wired in 5v again to the bulb so both are illuminated.20240714_193530.jpg20240714_191457.jpg
