Hey guys,

My group (http://www.facebook.com/opusscience) has been asked by RadioSEGA to make a couple of tracks to use as theme tunes on their shows. The idea is it will be an original piece of music, but have nods/salutes/key musical phrases from two or three tracks that are unmistakably SEGA tunes.

We have some ideas, but are canvassing opinion from the retro gaming forums for further ideas.

So what are your thoughts? If you had to pick one song from a SEGA game that is truly iconic and sums SEGA up, what song would it be.

Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

surely also you must elbow the SEGA words from the start up of the Mega Drive lol!

Oh, that's a must! Already done it on one of our other tracks

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Seems Magical Sound Shower and Greenhill Zone are taking the lead across various forums, Facebook and Twitter, with Daytona in a strong 3rd place.

This is partially why there is so much anger towards sega racing classic (daytona in an LCD cab) as they took all vocals of the word Daytona. It defines sega in the 90s while space harrier/out run/afterburner did in the 80s.

Hey guys, following the feedback from this thread and others we've run across various retro gaming and SEGA forums, we ended up cooking up this.

We really appreciated all the feedback we got from across the internet in planning this track. We tried to get other suggestions in, but for various (mainly musical) reasons, we had to leave them out as they simply didn't fit quite right.

But in the end, we have Magical Sound Shower, Green Hill Zone, Streets Of Rage, Space Harrier, Afterburner and a couple of little salutes to some of our favourites. There's a sneaky synth line in there at times from a Golden Axe track and the credit roll music from Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap.

Hope you like it.
