The next part wasn't easy, the front left corner had been bust off at some point and been repaired, didn't notice when I bought it, so another surprise to sort

They couldn't even get it straight and I have no idea why the holes
smiley5.gif

45-Sidefix.jpg

wasn't sure how I could sort this other than a better bit of wood, good thing when you've had a few machines, always have some wood to use, even better when it's got the vinyl that just about matches, annoying when you probably had some exact stuff but throw it away because of space issues

46-sidefix.jpg

47-sidefix.jpg

48-sidefix.jpg

If I'd make any mistakes with this, I'd end up cutting more and more off the original side, luckily it went well, cut it bigger to start and then trim it down till it fits perfect, it's getting the right angle though

49-sidefix.jpg

Fix it in place with wood dowels, once side is on again it will have more wood dowels through the inside but needs to be strong

50-sidefix.jpg

51-sidefix.jpg

Getting there
smiley1.gif

52-sidefix.jpg

53-sidefix.jpg

Corner done, then still slot to cut and holes on inside for dowels

Doesn't blend in too bad, not much else can be done unless you recover all the wood but I'm happy with it. I do most of my work on the patio area, like lately were having all this rain, it means I can't get stuff done, my dad says why not do all the work in the shed, with the stuff in there and all the other tools, arcade spares etc it would be very difficult, so roof over patio and I could carry on if it was raining, plus I don't want everthing covered in wood or metal shavings and how can you lay an arcade machine out, rebuild and stand up, better outside plus you have perfect light to see as well
smiley1.gif

Now most of the bad parts sorted I can start to rebuild it, before this stage it had sat for about 2 years,

amazed it was that long but I had sorted another machine out first and then been doing engine swaps on cars as well

for the rebuild I needs to be indoors, so big sheet of wood to put side on. Could do without this amount of work on a cab but always seem to end up with the real bad stuff, not so bad when it's decent price, happy to save these really beat up machines though and make them something half reasonable again.

The first Jamma cab I had to do this, was from the tip and the guy there dropped it, then he got lads to move it and they used forklift, so it was falling apart like this was, so did same and flat packed it and in the car it all went, then I rebuilt it in my back bedroom
smiley36.gif
shame I didn't take pics of it, like this also it had damaged parts so had to come apart to be fixed

Good chance to give it all a clean before but One thing I didn't think to do before reassembling it, I should of scanned the front artwork
smiley18.gif

61-assemble.jpg

62-assemble.jpg

63-assemble.jpg

Quite a bit to this cab interally. One reason it was in bits for around 2 years was I had to quickly work in Op Thunderbolt

64-assemble.jpg

New Base aligns nicely

65-assemble.jpg

Not sure why this was all broken, only the bit inside where coins drop through from Coin Mech, it still had original Coin door and Multi Mech, the usual reason these get cut out is when Ops changed from S10 Mechanial Mechs to Electronic Mars ones, so cut that out because they don't line up. can't replace it when rebuilt so another job done

66-assemble.jpg

67-assemble.jpg

68-assemble.jpg

Now have to re drill the holes for dowels in new corner

69-assemble.jpg

71-assemble.jpg

72-assemble.jpg

73-assemble.jpg

74-assemble.jpg

75-assemble.jpg

This control panel bit of wood has letters scratched into it, also where the gun goes it's very worn and scratched, the metal pivot is worn so gun sits to low down and wobbles so I needed to do something with it

The under side looks much better but I don't know how I was going to cut out the same slots in a circle for the gun bolts to turn in, the gun it self has built in stopper so this is just for the bolts to clear under gun, so I decided to make this the new top and cut it out underneath to fit the gun plate in recessed, then the gun sits higher up so problem sorted

78-assemble.jpg

79-assemble.jpg

Time to get the cheap router out, really need to get a better one as I use it quite a bit now

80-assemble.jpg

81-assemble.jpg

So 2 issues sorted, top looks much better without writing on it

82-assemble.jpg

83-assemble.jpg

84-assemble.jpg

85-assemble.jpg

Glued it back together but don't have enough clamps so had to put heavy items on top to make sure it's together right and bolt the new base in place. so nice to get it back again after being in bits for so long, because the base now has the wood top for wheels to bolt on, at the back it covers the bottom cab air vent, so quick alteration to make sure there clear

Nice to have it back upright again

Looking good.

You are putting in the effort in I think about achieving until I get In the garage and lose all enthusiasm!

I have big sheets of 0.7mm black textured formica I bought to do my Gauntlet cab if you want to completely recover the sides.

Was hard to get due to the width of the Gauntlet cab which is the same problem here.

Same stuff you get on the front of Atari cabs.

Cheers anyway matey

I dont usually go to far on the cabs, mostly just repair and get working, this was in worse state than i thought but dont mind the challenge, nice to rescue cabs in this state. Sides arent too bad, alot is dust and some scratches, hopefully someday we'll get full scans of the lower artwork

I'm just happy to get the machines i wanted what ever condition is, main thing i can play it and thats what drives you to get it back together and working

Great effort, I'd of kept my OP wolf if it was the electrocoin one and not the huge US version. It's a great game and everyone loves it at parties. Yours will be great when its finished.

The full size cabs are huge, these are great size and this type cab is on front cover of OpWolf for Spectrum and Commodore port

When you had games for the old home computers like Op Wolf, Chase HQ, Buggy Boy etc, you never thought you'd own the machines one day pictured on the front covers

Next the PCB/PSU board, Very Dirty so strip down and clean.

104-PCB.jpg

105-PCB.jpg

106-PCB.jpg

107-PCB.jpg

One of the Faults you get with Sound is the Fuse Holders Dirty, so made sure there all cleaned up good and the fuses

108-PCB.jpg

109-PCB.jpg

Some of the wires were a bit chewed up and others joined with connector blocks so sorted that out

110-PCB.jpg

111-PCB.jpg

112-PCB.jpg

113-PCB.jpg

Cash Box Door fitted

114-door.jpg

115-door.jpg

Mirror had layer or dirt both side, Probably wouldn't of registered shots with all the dirt even if the gun was complete, same on the monitor and inside glass

116-Mirror.jpg

117-Mirror.jpg

118-Mirror.jpg

119-Monitor.jpg

Nice to get the monitor and boards back in, these things take up space, the monitor has been lying around for 2 years with risk of getting broken so great to get back in cab

Mirror and boards back in

121-Monitor.jpg

122-Monitor.jpg

123-Monitor.jpg

Machine working again, nice to see it fire up after so long, just Gun to rebuild, Coin mech to fit. Don't seem to have many photo's of the Gun, hadn't took any of it when stripping it down so took some working out putting it all back together and finding all the parts and screws, bolts n springs

124-Gun.jpg

125-Gun.jpg

The Guns are pretty well built on these machines, Only thing is the main pivot it turns on wears down, that led to mine being a bit loose, the gun hit on the glass, also had worn into the glass retainer and worn into the front aluminium corner, that's another reason I routed out the wood so when the base fitting underneath control panel the gun sits higher up, at some point I will fit some bearings so it turns better

126-Gun.jpg

127-Gun.jpg

128-Gun.jpg

So I had got the mechanism back together, then realised I hadn't put the plastic cover in place, so apart it came again

135-Coinmech.jpg

Coin mech and original Electrocoin Credit PCB installed and tested, new bulb fitted, 6V on these I think and they don't have one fitted, so I installed the Remote holder and cable so you can get to the monitor controls, not easy to setup in these cabs without

136-Remote.jpg

So that about finishes of the machine, shame the Artwork isn't complete, I scanned it anyway but need to get some complete art, have got one part of the artwork from Muddy though, so get that stuck on

137-Finished.jpg

138-finished.jpg

139-finished.jpg

140-Finished.jpg

141-Finished.jpg

143-Finished.jpg

142-Finished.jpg

So for now the machine is finished, I did have an issue with the gun not registering shots after rebuilding, took me a while to figure it out but can't think what it was now, I really should note the things down as I don't remember stuff like I used to, might have been a bad connection as the board wasn't even touched. The PCB out of this one I put in the full size to sell as it was fully working, so this has the PCB that came in the Pizza Box from Arcade Warehouse, it had Sound issues which was partly the fuse holder and then some other sounds problem on the PCB, got that fixed and machine fully working again.

Nice to play it again after so long, was shame to loose my other cab being first thing from ebay but I sure like having Thunderbolt as well. My favourite part of the rebuilt is the New Base, wanted it to be same height it was, look like the base is on the floor and not wheels, don't think anyone would notice, so much easier to move about though, don't know why they didn't have wheels on

Just needs some T-Moulding at some point and the Start Decal sticking back on, hadn't put it on till I'd scanned it

I recognise those yellow skyways! Is that a MK1 tuff burner? I sold mine to a member on here, but regretted soon after. At least I got another MK1 though.Chopper792019-06-28 10:18:01

To be honest I'd never really done much wood work stuff, make a steering wheel and pedal to use for driving games on the Amiga, can't think of anything I'd really done much until I started buying These machines, and as many of mine are beat up ones I've had to learn to do the work, the first was the damaged jamma cab, someone must of broken the front out to get the money which is why it was dumped I guess

Yes Chopper
smiley4.gif
Early Mk1 Tuff Burner with the Foam Grips and metal pedals, I did have Super Tuff as well but like a fool sold that, still got a nice Extra Burner as I used to have one, my favourite wheels at the Tuff's though so I have some white ones I was going to put on that but keep original wheels too

That would be awesome if you don't mind taking the time to do it👍
I had a go the other night, I added photos again but get an error, seems the site changed the amount of letters and photo's at some point in single post which is reason photo's not showing, so I'll do a new thread and copy the text and spread it over more replies
