Well finally here it is...working as it should, after countless faulty boards, another wiring loom, another ISO, gun board, 2x gun opto's and another 2 whole guns and a lot of hair loss (anyone who's met me can see there isn't enough left to go around anymore) we have a working op wolf in the "Gar-cade"
The second video down shows the cab quite well, not in bad nick (I think) and the first video has the recoil working as I noticed the motor voltage connector on the main board wasn't pushed on 100% once that was done you can then hear the recoil motor in the gun working as it should.
Massive big up to Phil (on here and the other forum) for selling me the cab from the raid t'up north from an old arcade stock room, and for the spares which helped find the faults by giving me enough bits for another complete setup to make a test rig.
Massive big up to Martin the deliveryman for bringing it to me and being helpful as usual.
Massive big up to Si (Unit504) for spare op wolf boards and the loan of his monitor and working pcb which also helped...and for being a good mate.
Massive big up to Nitrus for selling me a couple of cheap wolf boards as spares.
A massive big up to D (grand master of Jamma+) for kindly selling me a N.O.S gun complete in a box (with a spare new motor) Here you go bud your shinny gun in action now in pride of place in a loving home.
And a massive big up to Joel (Retrorepair) who finally finding the main fault on both of my pcbs with the X and Y logic chips which control the up/down and left/right that count the no. of lines on the screen of where you point the gun.
(He let me take a whole test rig including 14" Commodore monitor into his home, with the gun whole loom etc... and about 5 dead/part working pcb's so he could fix it for me)
And for fixing me/us (Si Unit504) another op wolf board both gun section and sound board fault so between us we have a spare 100% working wolf board.
Massive big up to Grant (Gunblade) for fixing my monitor - cheers man.
Massive big up to Tim for op wolf related questions I threw at him and to anyone else who pitched in and I haven't spoke of.
(Sorry if I forgot anyone)
This really was a joint effort from lots of people on here and other forums and I wanna show my thanks I couldn't have done it without all of you so ta! Much love!
You are all LEGENDS and made a sad ageing arcade lover very happy.
If any of ya are at PLAY I will buy ya all a beer!!
The fault was always the pcb but after lots of swapping, no logic seemed to come out of any of it and as I ruled out one thing another shot me down.
But it had other issues which bothered me...
So I got the whole thing fixed.
I got it for £150 and it was working but kinda flakey, but messing around and an intermittent board/gun fault kept making me think I'd fixed it when I hadn't.
It must owe me a good £350+ now
but I'd still go through it again, and I think it was worth it as it all looks good and plays very well.
The new gun is awesome
Bit dirty I need to clean it very well! (Magic spounge needed)
And to fill in the deep marks on the control panel where the previous gun had been loose and started to cut into the wood.
(Need to fill it in with wood filler and paint the top part black again)
Maybe a bit of T-moulding at some point and I need a coin door which has a C220B type mech entry...anyone got one that size? Not bothered if I have to paint it! And can swap you for a 10p S10 mech door maybe?
I have to say this cab tested me the most but I have grown from the experience, I consider myself "semi" handy with all this but nothing in this passtime has ever pushed me to highs or lows like this cab.
None of my other cabs have ever given me this much trouble.
There were times where I wanted to "do a Hammer" and smash it up and set fire to the remains.
WOW it was a long 2 month-ish journey.
I have played a good few games now and it's still as hard as ever this one, but I'm getting better at it.
This is a keeper cab due to the amount of blood and tears.
Enough of all the waffle, RUN V.T:-
Thanks for looking!!
Very happy!!
