Hi guys,
I've had a talk with NanotechGaming, creator of the Optigun/USB2Gun board. They have agreed to share the gerber files for the board with an open source license. I would have loved to order a bunch and start offering it on this forum but the license is strictly for non commercial use. Any one of you can take these files and use them to order and assemble your own copy on sites like PCBWay.com.
I feel like a lot of development when it comes to lightguns as been focused on getting light guns to work on non-CRTs... it's kind of ridiculous people with gun cabs have even started ripping out their CRTs just so they can get it to work..
I hope with this development we'll see more original lightgun cabs.
Anyway you can find the files here:
https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/ultracade/990-usb2gun-UCT-00.zip
I'll add some mirrors later on.
Cheers and have a good one,
shanki91

I can't really say, have never used any of those services.. I have been told that there are other sites that are cheaper though, not sure if they compare quality wise. maybe someone with some experience using these sites can share some insight

This is great news! I assume this would allow me to use the guns in my empty Point Blank and Lethal Enforcers cabs with a pc running mame or whatever. I've never used a pcb service like Pcbway (I understand they can build pcbs with all components as well?) and not sure how you go about it so that'll be a learning curve!

Hi! Did you have a go at getting one of these built?

There's some issues with the design that they've released, apparently it's an old revision that uses some chips which are EOL.. it's still possible to source them from Ebay and such but this chip actually needs programming and you cannot just use any programmer... the programmer for it is hella expensive like a few greand... i did talk to some people that said they have the means to program them but nothing came from it yet... kinda put this whole thing on the backburner... i guess if someone was serious about it they'd have to redesign the board with current parts so that it can really just be "made to order" from any manufacturer

Ah knightmare, I'd been looking at how to get something made through pcbway last night so thanks for the info!
So are there any other ways I could use some happ guns with a hanty polo monitor connected to a mame pc? Or are there other guns that would work but they'd connect via usb?

well there's the sinden light gun which supposedly also works with crt's but it's designed for LCD.. you will get an ugly border around the screen. light gun has a camera inside.. a bit overengineered if you ask me but i think it works quite well.. even has recoil

Not really, I tried loading the design into PCBWay's website and it all just seemed to come up kind of "wrong" so I didn't go any further with it as i've not got much idea of how it works anyhow! By the sound of the replies above it's just as well as I wouldn't have had the means to programme those chips anyway, i've only got a Wellon VP280 programmer. I did have a Dataman 48LV parallel port programmer years ago which did a lot of the older more obscure stuff if I remember correctly but it seemed to have gone missing since I moved house back in 2008 (which is weird considering we moved everything ourselves using a 7.5 tonner etc!) Either that or I sold it before I moved but I honestly can't remember, don't remember selling it! :)

Gun4IR then, cheaper(if self made*), no border, and most say is better. There's also the reaper guns and another brand too.

*Also can house in any gun case you like.
