[ukvac] OT: Attack from Mars Pinball
How much should I pay for a slightly broken (balls not coming out)
and well worn pinball table?

Are the parts easy to get, both mechanical and electronic? Or am I
bidding for a dead donkey here?

I've currently got the leading bid at £110.

Sorry to be slightly off topic, but I'm sure many of you guys collect
pinball tables too.

I've seen fully restored ones for $2000 - $4000.

The electronic parts and much of the generic mechanical parts are pretty
easy to find IME.

The best repair guide is here: http://marvin3m.com/wpc/index.htm -
particularly check out the bit marked "When things don't work: Ball Trough
Problems". Williams tables have good diagnostics, so the problem should be
simple to locate. As for fixing, all I can say is anything I've had to fix
on my table has been pretty straightforward. Does the game come with a
manual/schematics?

When you say 'well-worn', what does that mean - plastics broken, or just
dirty playfield? Need more info - plastics are not easy to come by, but
bulbs, cleaning fluid and elbow grease are!

Not so sure about price - but IMO, anything in the region of 100 quid sounds
like a bargain! :)

Do you mean it's worn around the stroke of luck hole? If so then almost
ALL AFM's are worn here due to the poor design of the holes kick out
mechanism. They used the same mech in the Revenge from Mars which also has
similar wear problems unless you are lucky enough (like me) to have the
hole protector insert (just a metal inlay to stop hole the wood wearing!)
fitted from new.

Fairly easy though since the demise of Williams/Bally parts for older games
are hard to find. AFM is relatively new though and even full plastics sets
and Playfields appear on the dreaded ebay.com from time to time.

Anything under a grand for a working one with average wear is good! I
doubt the problems the game has is more that a transistor, wire, solenoid
or opto problem.
