OT I know. My email address has been faked as the return address by spammers. They use addresses such as

dxtiwnxmultkx@asteroids.fsnet.co.uk
wxlptbruoqy@asteroids.fsnet.co.uk
ujjqouk@asteroids.fsnet.co.uk
hjzzserakpm@asteroids.fsnet.co.uk

e.t.c obviously fake. The content of the spam was to direct people to pirate software sales at http://bcjgsfnsogxshe7v9stu3ahpbs.acfrowzyfn.com/OE017/index.php

A quick lookup shows the owner as

Is there anything that can be done or is it a case of another criminal getting away with their actions?

If it was a criminal act, then you would go to the police. However, it
currently isn't, so they wont help you

It may be that the spammer is not actually at that address, the real
spammer may have been using that machine at that location without the
knowledge of the owner, either physically, or remotely. So its a hard
case to prove you see.

I have had this happen to me on my domain also.. the only problems are
sending email to AOL users, my address is banned, but apart from that,
there's not much you can do about it, the posting failure messages stop
after a few months.

yep, happened to me a couple of times, all I did was send lots of
emails to the co. whose cr*p cheap US fags were being advertised,
asking them not to spam, that contained an attachment just big
enouugh to get through there firewalls, a few thousand emails later I
seemed to stop getting the rubbish. (yes I was bored at work doing a
code release at midnight)
