[ukvac] OT: What are pinballs made of?
I really can't be arsed to ask this on the pinball list at the moment in
the current climate of hatred, so please excuse me if this is a little OT!

Anyone know what material pinballs are made of? The actual balls, not
the machines!

I assume they're stainless steel (polished), but when ordering i have a
choice of:

Stainless Steel, AISI302
Stainless Steel, AISI306
" AISI316
" AISI316L
" AISI420
" AISI440C

This is double dutch to me :)

Before anyone chirps up that Pinball Heaven or <insert pinball supplier
here> sells pinballs so what the hell am i going on about?

Bet they don't sell 3/4" pinballs!

The normal size is 1 & 1/16"

I've been told of a supplier local to me that sells 60 of what i need
for £22, but i don't know which of the above to choose.

Many thanks for any suggestions, (aside from f* off!)

Martin.

Most pinball places do but they are like £2 each! And you need 50-60 for
hyperball/rapid fire. Seen as I have 2 rapid fire's I ain't spending £240 on
balls

Do you know the official number of balls that you need for the machine to
fill it?

I found a bag of about 40balls taped in one of the back boxes, so thats a
good start :)

Sorry don't know what type you need, but when you find out I will of course
be interested to know :)

Superb article Dave!

Luke, read that...

To answer your questions Luke, i need 55 for each, so i need 110 in
total. As long as the guy that recommended them wasn't generalising then
it ought to cost £44 for 120 of them.

After reading the guide at marvins i would guess 25 or 10 grade
chrome-stell as there are no magnets involved and if the price is too
steep then it could go down as far as grade 1000.

I'm not in a major rush until i get paid again (two more weeks) but i
might phone them up and find out sometime in the not too distant future...

No minimum order apparently and branches all over the place, so no need
to combine orders.

Cheers,
Martin.
