Pacman Ball Pushers...

Hi,

I recently bought a seaside arcade, that has 4 pacman ball pushers... The previous owner told me only two worked, it turned out only one worked.

After 3 months, that one is now dead too :-( Absolutely great games when they are working, and getting very rare now. Not much info about them on the internet..

I have found a few posts on here about them, but nothing is helping me at the moment.

They use Namco system 10 boards, and have 5v, 12v and 24v PSU's.

So far, ive tested the PSU's. I found a couple of the 12v PSU's had no output. So, I swapped some around and now have a full set of working PSU's.

The system 10 boards have a game card and an extension card that links to the sensors, hoppers, coin entry etc.

I have tried all 4 motherboards, with various combinations of game cards and extension cards, and 100% working PSU's. I havent found a combination that works. :-(

I dont know if all of the system 10 boards are dead, or if all of the game cards are dead - or indeed if everything is dead! I dont have any known working boards to rule out anything at this point in time.

Does anyone have experience of these machines? Can anyone test System 10 boards or game cards?

From what ive read, if the game cards are dead, I might as well take a hammer to the machines. Which is a real shame as they are in great condition, rare, fund to pay and very popular! Before the last one broke, a few people regularly travelled over 60 miles to come and play it..

Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike, it tends to be the sys 10 main boards that die, also problematic are the LCD screens, someone on here has done a replacement screen that works with a bit of alteration and an adaptor board, hopefully they will respond

@blazerfrazer had some working ones a while ago and fixed them up, but not sure if he still has them.

I think there's a possibility you can nick a System 10 main board from another working System 10 game.

What do you mean by dead?
No lights, movement , sound or anything?
Single red light on the game card (I *think* that's how it was when working). Nothing on screen, so sound, and the pusher bed does not move. Other lights come on, and the wipers but they are just permanently wired up.

Thanks,

I've seen the post about using a cheap 7" screen and RGB converter. If I get some sort of life back into the machines, that looks like a nice little job to do :)

I've now managed to order a System 10 board from Japan. Will see if that helps me when it arrives.

Ive also made a list of all of the capacitor values I need to re-cap a board an existing. For about £20 it's worth a try.

OK, my new System 10 board arrived! Swapped it out and now have a working machine :)

It has allowed me to test everything else I have too. I definately have 4 dead system 10 boards, and 1 dead/corrupt game card.

Good to know 3 game cards are good, as apparantly if they become corrupt you basically cannot get another..

That's a good result, and all the screens were ok? I was lucky and got a main board from the states for 28 dollars, it was around 40 quid shipped but that was years ago. A chap on here sold me a few not so long ago and they were spot on, Would need to look back to see who it was?

Yeah, the screens are fine. A bit dirty after years of neglect, but i think it they will clean up nicely. My board was £250+ with a mr driller game card from Japan.. A bit pricey but I needed it. As its for actual arcade use, i'll probably get that back over summer.

Just managed to secure another board from a member on here for much less.
