Pacman joystick grommets?

Does anyone know of a supplier for Bally 4-way joystick grommets in the UK, please? There's someone advertising on eBay US at about £7 + shipping, should I just bite the bullet and waste the extra shipping cost? If so, does anyone want me to order extras to save on postage?

Cheerio,
Ross

Hi Ross,

On a related note, any sources for the other parts in the joystick? My
centering is not too bad, but the springs are rusty and squeeky. Or
are there any rebuild kits for these?

Thanks

Luke

Springs? There aren't any springs in mine... I wonder if I'm missing something, or if I don't have an original joystick. It does look quite like the ones I've seen on websites though, and everything else in this cab was original. You can get repro (microswitch) joysticks (and grommets for originals) here: http://www.pac-man.com/pacman/upright/front/ or cheaper here: http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=JOYMPGAL ... and lots of places seem to sell the grommets for a huge range of prices. I haven't come across any rebuild kits, but then the only bit I can see that would take much wear seems to be the grommet - and mine was fine, but I killed it getting the joystick out of the panel. The panel was rusty, I'm currently trying to get a good finish on it with car paint and maybe followed up with lacquer. I'm also considering putting a layer of diamond coat varnish on the cab and panels once I have finished touching up the artwork, any comments? I'd best take a photo of mine then. I have 2 the same (on midway
cabarets)

On my pacman upstairs, the original leaf stick, doesn't seem
restricted to 4 way, so you get stuck on walls alot when playing when
you accidentally hit a diagonal. Is this normal or am I missing some
kind of 4 way restrictor?

Thanks

In mine, there are two separate mechanisms that force 4 way movement - the hole through the metal plate at the top of the assembly is a diamond shape (well, a square on its side really), and there's a red plastic piece near the leaf switches too. I've uploaded some pics here:

http://www.djse.com/pics/pac-control/

The last few pics show it in various stages of disassembly.

For bonus points, can you identify the pin they're sat on?

Cheerio,
Ross

Thanks for the pics Ross, I will compare with mine later on. I suspect
my red plastic bit must either be well worn or missing.

For the bonus points, the pin is 1981 Bally Flash Gordon :)

Mine has a white plastic bit (8way?) on the bottom instead of a red 4
way one. Anyone know where I can get the red plastic restrictor?

Thanks
