Finally got around to having a go a whitening my PC Engine, I only used some cheap supemarket products nothing too fancy

pcerb02.jpg

1. 40% Vol Peroxide Cream the one I used was £1.62 from Morrison's
2. cling film
3. small brush
4. protective gloves
5. container for the peroxide (makes it easier to brush)

This is how my PCE looked after a good scrub with both isopropyl foam and neat isopropyl

pcerb01.jpg

Still pretty unclean at this point so on with the whitening !!

I
blathered the PCE with the cream using the brush and quickly wrapped it
up in cling film to help stop the cream evaporate so quickly in the sun

I also put some tin foil on a tray to help get the Sun's UV to the sides and lower parts of the plastic
I left it in the Sun for around 5 hours and rotated it a few times to try to get even Sunlight to the PCE.

This is just after removing it from the cling film and washing it down and a quick dry up, looks really clean now

And here it is back in the IFU, it was nearly the same yellow colour as the CD ROM and looks almost new in comparison.

Close
up shot. Next time I have time to leave it out in the Sun I will be
giving the CD Rom a treatment or 2 but those things dont like being
taken apart!!

I'm going to have a go at an A1200 I recently bought, it looks like its smoked 60 a day for 20 years.

I've seen recipies where folks add additional 'hair bleaching' product to 30% peroxide from schwarzkopf, did you add any additional stuff or just the peroxide. Maybe the additional stuff makes up for the 10% less per volume that you used?

I hope mine comes out as light as yours I'd be well chuffed.

Cheers
