Phasmophobia

Anyone else playing Phasmophobia? Been in early access for a couple of years but after a recent big update it's pretty solid now.

I was playing pretty much from release but after my daughter was born had to give it a break, getting back into it now but much prefer playing with mates or someone who's up for a regular game rather than just internet randoms each time.

If you've not heard of it, its a VR & flatscreen ghost hunting game for 1 to 4 players. You rock up at a haunted building, starting with small homes up to a huge school and asylum. Your van is full of ghost hunting gear which you need to use to establish what kind of spirit it is that's doing the haunting. Different ghosts are more violent than others and as your sanity drains away the chances of it locking the doors and coming after you increases.

I used to play pretty much exclusively in VR before the last big update when it was a bit more fun and me and mates had a pretty good chance of winning each level. At that time your flashlight would blink on and off when a spirit was hunting you and you could just run away and hide somewhere until it stopped.

These days there's been a tonne of different spirits added and it's a bit more subtle and by subtle I mean terrifying, hence the move to flatscreen. I will still play in VR when I want a proper experience kind of game, plus I think the inventory management is far easier when you can look down and see what you've got on your belt.

It's the sort of game to enjoy at your own level, if you just wanna feel creeped out then amateur or maybe intermediate is cool. But as with all games there's a subset of people trying to speedrun it on nightmare difficulty who can tell you what kind of ghost it is by the sounds it's making or how fast it's moving.

I'm nowhere near top of the pile in terms of that but I can easily tell you what's what and how to identfy the spirits, pick up extra bonus cash, etc.
