With quite a bit of work I've been doing on cars I'm getting quite frustrated, I bought a Sand Blasting cabinet, big compressor, spray guns etc so I can do the work myself, also I can restore all parts of the Arcade Machines too, the cars are a nightmare, I've sandblasted parts that are very rusty and bought Expoxy 2k Paint from here
rustbusters
I repainted lots of suspension parts and replaced bushes, all looked great, 6 months later all rust coming through again. If you have really rusty parts that's pitted sandblasting it and even in summer in dry house the parts start rusting in a week, little spots of rust all over will appear, i don't know if you need to then put parts in rust killer, i even used that Rust converter they sell to treat areas of the car that you could get rid of all rust but nothing you do makes a difference. from what i've read now the best thing to do is use Cold Galvanising with Zinc rich primer, if the metal is perfect with little rust and sandblasted, no pitting it will be fine painted like the arches i replaced. so next time i'm using Zinga to prime all metal that's outside or somewhere that could be damp, in home i wouldn't bother unless it's really pitted metal
The expoxy paint in the link looks pretty much like powder coating when painted and great for arcade parts like control panels, brackets etc so I spray all the parts now, you could probably buy any 2k Satin paint for them, specially if you were painting say Op Wolf gun as you don't want it too thick like powder coating as you struggle to reassembly parts of it because they had a very thin coat originally, but if you want a Powdercoat like tough finish 2k paints are the way to go because it's chemically cured, only downside is you have to mix the activator with it, then thinners so and you only have so long before it's going off, if you mix too much paint you then have to throw some away so I get loads of parts ready to paint black so I run out of paint before i've finished them all
You can buy 2k Spray cans but it's expensive way to go if you have big parts or a few machines to do, other thing is time, it's much easier to take it all and have blasted, powered but with price increases i'll be doing it all myself now
Same with items very rusty and powder coated, you can see the pitting even when finished so it's good doing it yourself if you want better finish just use 2k paints, can get small compressor and decent spray gun for not much money these days
