Not quite sure where to post this (as it crosses both the arcade and console emulation categories) but Recalbox have just launched a new Kickstarter for their RGB Dual 2 card for the Raspberry Pi 5. SCART, VGA, composite, analogue audio out, progressive and interlaced video, lots of goodness all round. I've got the original RGB Dual for my Pi 4 which works fine but have immediately backed this new project as the Pi 5 is so much more powerful. I'm intending to use it to replace an ancient PC (and I do mean ancient) in one of my cabs. Here's the link:

I was backer 190-odd at 9pm last night, now up to 472 as I type this so lots of interest in this.

I hope one of them is on the forum ... because I don't want this question to sound insulting ... but ... ... what's going on with the (Windows text reader?) voice on this RecalBox YouTube video?

I believe he's actually speaking in French (as the people behind Recalbox are French), so I'm guessing this is one of those clever AI things that converts the text to English while at the same time does its best to match the mouth movements. Yeah, it's a bit weird, but I'll still take this over reading subtitles! I didn't actually bother watching the video, just backed it, but now you've brought it up I'm going to watch it through!

Just looked at another video on the channel that came from and it gets even weirder. Same guy, different voice and as you can see from 40 seconds onwards, some weirdness going on with his chin behind the mic shield, suggesting the mouth movements have been replaced so it matches the English... o_O

So, someone else had already mentioned it in the comments ... and I am so glad the video maker responded kindly!
Honestly, when we do that, English-speaking viewers don’t bother watching and just criticize us for not making the effort to speak English…

I have now watched the whole thing. The sentence pacing is a bit weird in places but overall it still blows my mind that this translation technology now exists. This up-to-the-minute AI tech allows us to easily digest someone talking about a product that allows us to play my-god-they're-old (and so am I) games as they should be played (y)

Wouldn’t you be better off with the JAMMA if you are putting it in your cab?
I don't think it still has the JAMMA harness but it's been over 10 years since I've done any work on that one (it was my brother's cab) so I could be wrong. But if it does still have the harness, you're right, the other product would be the better option.
