As a kid we mostly had Hitachi because my Dad was convinced they were the most reliable. No idea if that was true but it never broke. I had a 21" Tatung in my late teens which i got very cheap, to this day i've never found or owned a better picture than that had, Was perfect. I took it to the tip when i no longer needed it and not long after started collecting arcade boards 🙄 Never forgiven myself

I took a 21" cased Hantarex monitor to the tip because the power switch was broken (easy fix now) and it was in the way. 🤦‍♂️

The 21" Hitachi CRT I've got looks great and looks better than my 21" Trinitrons (imo)

We had a Fidelity from about 1989. It did RGB scart and it wasn't too bad.

Also had a Goldstar 14" from the early 90's and it was absolute crap. Funny how they became the mighty LG of OLEDs.

We had a lovely 29" Trinitron from 1995, but one day it never switched on again .Those things are absolutely rammed with PCBs waiting to pack-in.

My mate bought a cheap make TV for his bedroom in early 2000 probably, i used to get TV's all the time I repaired and sold, mainly Sony in the end and he thought his cheap one was good, compared it to a Sony one day and he couldn't believe how crap the thing he bought was, Matsui or some Korean made junk, he had the Sony off me and threw that thing away

Philips were good Picture wise but they could seriously blow up in Storms, when ever there was lighting storm we'd get loads of TV's in and more Philips than anything and some would get written off because they would take too much time and money to repair

Most old electrical stuff you can't really go wrong if it's Japanese, they just made the best stuff in the good old days which is why most of the stereo stuff I have from 70's 80's still going
