I'm in need of a half decent/value Japanese to UK stepdown for a vewlix cabinet.

Needs to be able to cover running the standard hardware, and one other device at a time e.g. type-x 4 / intel 4879k and GPU / console (XB1/PC).

Never purchased one before so consider me completely ignorant, safety to both the kit and me is my primary concern 😂

Cheers

Amazon sell some China jobbies if budget is tight.

There was a post on the UKvac FB page that suggested that some of the recent Airlink chassis mount bare units were wired up back to front.

Another vote for Airlink. I'm running two Vewlix's from a 750VA stepdown.

@thegreathopper, do you think he would want more than 200VA if he's running a gaming PC too?

My Vewlix's are rated at 230w. A lot of that will have been the original monitors. If you've changed yours out or are looking to then you will use a lot less power with a more modern and energy efficient monitor.

If the stepdown you get only has one output then you can add a power strip or similar to the Vewlix. There are additional power sockets in the cab but they are only rated for 4A which you might exceed with a PC. I [installed a power strip to the cab inlet] instead.

Thanks @FrancoB yeah it was more the PC/Xbox side of things I was concerned about. I'll probably end up using a type-x 4 eventually, just a short term plan for now.

Mistakes happen but that doesn't sound good 👀

Also consider what you intend your PC to be in the future? 4090, that's 500W plus just on its own!

you can test your home voltage with a Multimeter in AC mode, some homes are 230V some are 240V some are even higher than that! the airlinks are set to convert 230V to 100V if you input is 240V then the 100V output might be higher too but I've never had any problems with the voltage being ever so slightly higher, running 5x cabs from 2 Airlinks, for almost 10 years now

I was looking on eBay last night & there are some Made in Japan units on there if you wanted to be true Otaku!

I have a chassis mount airlink in mine installed by the previous owner.

I think I've read in the past the cheaper ones give out 110v+ rather than 100v.
