Robotron on ebay

Hi

Has anyone sent the Robotron on ebay at the moment? It says it's a European model but I've never seen one quite like that - certainly different from the US and UK models. The main differences seem to be the artwork on the bezel and the fact that there is no separate marquee but it is part of the bezel. Shape of the cab is consequently slightly different as well.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260014442337&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016

Anyone seen anything like this before or got any info on this one?

Cheers
Greg

yup - its theoretically a "williams Streets" uk version possibly assembled
by Rav a couple of years ago.

At least the streets robotron looks more like a robotron than the streets
defender - that had spangly paintwork which was really off putting !

And Rav, if your reading this, I'd appreciate a return call to the dozens of
emails and phone messages I've sent you regarding some some monies owed for
a very long time...

Assembled by rav? afaik he only added some vinyl
sideart as originally it just had plain black sides.
The rest is original from the Streets factory. Anyway
this machine has been knocking around for years
between various collectors. Only one known though I
think. Also its horrible to play cos the screen is
really low, unless you're 9 or a midget off course.

This machine was first owned by Ian Boffin, then a collector called Richard, then Andy Welburn sold it on - if its the same machine. I'd add that IF its the same machine - and going by the fact it has artwork on the sides then t guess its the one and same machine I got vinyl artwork made as pr eggs post.
At least the streets robotron looks more like a robotron than the streets defender - that had spangly paintwork which was really off putting !
As far as I know, this is a UK proto, the cabinet rsembles other streets cabs I've seen - but not williams style. If that helps
And Rav, if your reading this, I'd appreciate a return call to the dozens of emails and phone messages I've sent you regarding some some monies owed for a very long time...
Ahh.. sorry. Look. I dont get ukvac email from yahoo if you tried that way. I read the forums. now I've worked out that its you Archer I'll give you a ring tomorrow before noon. You know my f**king phone * * * N U M B E R S * * * and sorry... its 100% bollocks you've tried phoning - as both my mobile and home numbers have answer-phones and voicemails. And no, i've not changed each number.

EMAIL: Well, if you tried for 5 days out of the last 2 MONTHS when I moved rtype.com to a new ISP... Then sorry.... But dozens of emails in less than 10% time-period WOULD have been answered.

Seeing you've taken a public place to besmirch me, I'll respond accordingly. But dont worrry..... I will ring tomorrow before noon - and yes - i will use a f**king answerphone even if you dont

Hey, that's got the same screen bezel as my JAMMA cab!
Does that mean my JAMMA cab has a robotron bezel or that Robotron has a
JAMMA bezel.
Also, the bezel is actually rotated 90 degrees, the bit on the right should
be at the bottom.

Ian Boffin had one like this once ... maybe even the same one?

yeh like i said in the first post it had the sideart
added by rav. Incredibly my mate simon happened to
have a nos streets robotron control panel overlay
which rav also bought and applied to the machine. That
explains the control panel difference!

Would you say it's genuine - or is it some Frankenstein creation? It's been so long since I saw a real Robotron that I've forgotten what the real thing in UK arcades actually looked like...

As I write this it's standing at £570 - reserve not met. What would be reasonable price to pay for something like this? Would it be better to wait for a more "traditional" (US style????) cab to come along?

The only thing frankenstienian abotu this is the siedart, and that is copied from a different "UK" cabinet faithfully. Otherwise its all original and frankly the only one I've seen in that configuration.

I'm watching the price too, but only to contact the 2nd high bidder

I have a tranditional UK one I'm wanting to sell to the 2nd high bidder or seperately (pictures at My retroKade site but I'm looking in the region of £1k for it or nearabouts.

I see. It does look to be in nice condition - even though the photo's aren't the best in the world...

Looks sweet, would look better with a new control panel overlay though!

Does it need much cosmetic/mechanical work?
