Sega Naomi Error 03

This one’s worth a shout.

Was getting error 03 on the Naomi - Board Malfunctioning.

Cause: Main board serial number cannot be read out.

No advice on how to fix it though.

I have a Rev D board, one of the older type with San Ace fan.

After doing some research I found a few links to error 03 that didn’t really nail the issue with an obscure link to IC64. But after an internet search for IC64 and watching a video (on what looked like a Spanish posting) it turns out it is the X76F100 at IC64.

Error 03 cure - remove IC64 (X76F100) and replace from donor board.

I've had this issue on motherboards and cartridges, it's a shame no programmers support the X76F100 chips as there's plenty of new old stock ones out there. I think the only programmers that can program them are made by eetools.
