I dont know any game that boots to one credit to be honest. What set is it I will test ?? I have tested Elevator and boots to no credits :-

There is a free play but more likely an issue in the control inputs ?

Dave.

Thanks. Romident showas up as elevator.
it's wierd... if all the dips an bank B are off -> 9 coins for 1 credit it still boots with 1 credt and stays an player start screen. If i let id die, then the credit is gone and stays in attract mode. coin input works as normal, 9 times for 1 credit.... same with dips for 1 coin 1 credit.

If there is a problem at the input stage, it cant just pulse 9 times at boot?? I'll have to check all the roms.

Well it makes sense... No metter what settings one has for the coin inputs, the service switch still dose one credit per push.
Long story short, pin 2 on IC27 - mc14584 (has beed replaced before with an LS14) stuck HIGH -> Service switch always pressed-> coin up on boot :) replaced the IC with another LS14 and the game boots just fine with 0 credits in attract mode.

good one.

**edit: actually the input (pin1) is stuck LOW...

Wow the Bionic Commando in the club my family used to frequent when I were a lad gave a free credit on boot - needless to say we learned that quickly. I always wondered why that behaviour would be a thing, and perhaps it's similar to this!

I can imagine how happy you were when you found out.
