[ukvac] TECH Question: Colour XY Monitor
Hi all,
Having just repaired a faulty HV unit for the Wells Gardner (tempest) type
monitor I've noticed the unit is running quite hot: especially the BU409
transistor that's chassis mounted next to the screen and focus controls. I'd
be happy to leave the unit as-is but don't want it to fry the LOPT, tube,
etc! So I'm looking for some reassurance here
I've compared it to another good HV unit and it's running noticeably hotter
but I also noticed that the 'cool' unit is a P329 type whereas the 'hot'
unit is an earlier p316 type. Not sure is this would make any difference
though.
FWIW these are the faulty components that I replaced: BU207 (the TO-3
mounted on the backside of the HV chassis), BU409, a 13v zener (ZD901), and
a15k resistor (R912).
Thanks in advance
Karl.
