[ukvac] [Tech] Weird Williams Joust/Sinistar CPU Problem
I'm trying to fix a Sinistar/Joust CPU with some odd problems.
When I got the board it had a few RAM errors, so I replaced the three
offending RAM chips and it now passes the RAM test, but has the following
symptoms upon booting:
1. On power on you get a moving rug pattern
2. The rug the ends and the ROM board gives error code zero
3. There is no display on the screen after the rug stops ie the 'All
systems go' message is NOT displayed.
4. You do however get some garbage pixels at the top of the screen which
ARE also present with a fully working CPU.
5. If you put the game into diagnostics (working blind) then you get the
rug, and all the monitor set up screens, but nothing else. I do not know
if there were any sounds as I did not have a sound board connected on my
test bench.
I would appreciate it if anyone has seen a similar fault to this to Email
me personally ...
Thanks ....

In the meantime I'll try and get the sound wired up to see if the game
plays blind and report back ...
Thanks ....
