Great podcast, and perfectly timed for a long drive I had from North Lincolnshire to back home down South... I was actually near Newark when you mentioned your impromptu road trip.

Regarding the World's Largest Pacman in the UK, my son and I found one in Skegness yesterday in one of the 4 big arcades there.

I can confirm for you that your brand of humour (mostly mentions of pies in northern accents and general repetition) scores highly with 10 year olds... much laughter coming from the back seat, especially at the repeated Watch Out For Snakes during the Jungler review.

Loved the John Stoodley chat about Track & Field, like Pacman, his knowledge and enthusiasm for it makes for fascinating listening.

One thing with Track & Field on the Javelin... I always thought the thing you knock out of the sky by doing the steep angle was a satellite.

Very much looking forward to Revival at the weekend, see you there!

Thanks Chris - I've just seen your Skegness pics over on Facebook. Looks like the oldest video there was an 18 Wheeler, but I'd still like to go to play that Galaga Assault and the large Pac-Man. See you (and Big Blue?) on Saturday.

Great podcast as usual. Thanks for chatting about T&F. Would be great to hear from more of the UK gamers who have their sights set on conquering a classic game

As I mentioned on the podcast, if this is an acceptable submission for TG, it'll underline what I said about the peer review system.

Just wanted to mention that the Seimitsu LS-30 Rotary stick chosen for Hardware Heroes is not the same as the Cooker Knob used on Nintendo Sheriff.

My understanding is that for Sheriff it uses an 8-position switch with each position representing a specific direction... e.g up, down, diagonal down-right etc. Hence the white positional marker on the control knob.

Whereas the LS-30 Rotary stick used on Ikari Warriors and Midnight Resistance etc, uses a 12-position switch and a change of position tells the game to either rotate clockwise or rotate anti-clockwise. But within the game this still only represents 8 positions.

Therefore it should be possible to recreate the cooker knob on Sheriff with a standard 8-way joystick with a builtin fire button, whereas an LS-30 cannot.

I think I did mention the sheriff knob was different, as it isn't a stick - just a positional switch.

Funny that the Snk stick is 12 positions - I actually have some of those components!

I thought I heard someone mention that the rotate mechanism was the same as the Sheriff knob... maybe I misheard which is more likely. lol

But yeah not sure why it is 12-position... maybe to reduce the distance you need to twist the stick for each rotation.

Hi Guys,

What a great podcast this was. The Track and |Field interview at the end was enthralling and the accompanying thread on here, re; the algorithms is just amazing. With the combined genii of the code breakers, combined with the dynamic digits of Mr Stoodley, I think we are well en route for a new WR, even with the tight parameters mentioned.

I also need to say thank you for the immense priviledge of being the lucky listener to pick this weeks game. It seems to have gained a mediocre following on Twitter and I must admit that blooming end screen, prior to the game looping, is an absolute pita!!! And has kinda ruined it for me, as I was getting to it every time and still couldn't complete it, got clos, but not quite. Too many unavoidable arrows to the face whilst jumping for the rope.

But if I may just place a little substance behind this choice. It was away back in the mid 80's, when I found my first computer lurking under the Christmas tree, a Commodore 16, which came with a few games in the box, one of these was Punchy - a Hunchback clone. I was smitten and remain so. It's surprising how vivid these memories remain today.
I also remember a Hunchback cab in my local café.
Then on my last trip to Arcade Club, there it was, then again at Nerg 16, calling out to me. And so I chose it here, hoping that someone, if not I, would beat the bell screen and succeed, willed on by some friendly banter and rivalry - and it did, although it wasn't me.

Until next time. Keep jumping and avoiding arrows to the face !!

Was good to catch up on no less than 6 episodes whilst away with work, great to kill the time and make me less homesick, although it does put the screws on playing along with the games sometimes in real time.

Been playing a lot of Krull these past few days, I won't say it's an award winner, but worth checking out if you haven't had the pleasure.
