Is the singing bit your new jingle? I hope not! Lol!

Anyway great minds must think alike as I was thinking of snake rattle and roll as you mentioned it for the arcade games that should have been.

I would have loved to have seen Turrican 1 or 2 and Speedball 2 in an arcade setup as much as I normally hate sports games I love speedball 2 "Ice cream, Ice cream" (if you haven't played the game you may not get that reference)!

Regards the wipeout game I remember seeing a setup similair to wipeout in the film "Hackers" in a club venue, Though I am not sure if it was wipeout itself. I also remember seeing a wipout setup in a club up in Manchester (can't remember which). I think it was just a PS One console on a video projector/rear projection setup with a fighter style joystick not a dedicated arcade setup. Still cool though!

When I lived in Spain, one bar/club had a Cutty Sark Whisky Party, it was a promo event where you could win T-shirts, dice, cups etc, watches. They had a sit down simulator which had a version of Wipeout (except all the advert hording in the game said Cutty Sark). Me and my mate had spent the evening playing wipeout on the PS1 before we actually went out by sheer chance, and topped all their high scores, winning all the booty and getting some free whisky too, so I would say the thing in Hackers does exist.

Sony seeks TV sponsorship for PlayStation
Fri, 7 Feb 1997

Sony is searching for a terrestrial TV programme that its PlayStation brand can sponsor.

Among likely programme areas for the company are music, fashion and adventure sports, although PlayStation marketing director Geoff Glendenning says: "It is hard to find the right programme which fits with our image."

Last year, PlayStation had a marketing budget of about 15m and the spend is likely to be the same this year.

The company is not willing to reveal how much it plans to spend on TV sponsorship.

Sony has used sponsorship intensively to give the brand a "cool, underground image", which would differentiate it from Nintendo and Sega.

Current sponsorship deals, however, are relatively low-cost and include club nights around the country, such as events at the Ministry of Sound in London and Cream, and the Tribal Gathering music festival.

Sony is also planning to put money into London's first skateboard park, the PlayStation skate park, which will open in April.

PlayStation, like Sega, is preparing to fight off Nintendo's advanced N64 console, which launches in the UK on March 1.

I could have a go at doing some jingles for you, I have plenty of synths but not an awful lot of time, although I should be able to get something done by the next podcast. Pm me if there is anything in particular you had in mind.

Excellent podcast Alex and Vic! I think Tazzmania is definitely an acquired taste.

I'll be at Nerg both days this year, so it will be great to meet you. I was at the last RGP in February but never got round to speaking (so many games, so little time).

Finished listening to it today, I actually listened to the main part of the podcast on the way back (on the train) from the pub after the god awful England game when we got knocked out, thankfully you guys cheered me up. Had to listen to the interview in 2 parts over 2 days, all again fascinating stuff. Now come on Alex get a high score, I am rooting for you, stop letting Vic have his way and beating you, haha.
