Long time no feedback! But still listening to the podcast whist running to and from work but now it's even creeped into my marathon training!

Great episode even though Vic could have used a locket or a tune!

Brilliant episode, but I disagree with everything Vic said about Snow Bros. it's a fantastic game

You do get some different baddies on stages 40-50, you get flying birds and these other bad guys that pause then fly head first towards you. You can also fall down through the floor on most (all?) of these stages and you appear from the top of the screen, so you can quickly fall down and get a couple of baddies before they've had a chance to realise what's going on. With 2 players you can still get the bonus cash on some stages, but with 1 player it's just a case of killing everything as quickly as possible and forget about the bonus.

I didn't actually finish the game, but died on the final boss. I'm sure it doesn't loop at the end so the world records are achieved purely by score "leeching".

Never really played the next game before, so I'll need to check it out.

Is there a listing of the previous episodes games without going through all of the website? Just so I don't pick something that's already been done, by mistake!

Edit: Never mind, I've found the "listener list" on the website.

Great episode as usual, tbh all i heard was talking ping talking ping talking ping talking ping

this episode was pingified

some great points and yes there is lot of similarities wuth SB and BB
but Nightmare in the Dark, now thats a cool game too by SNK for MVS only (AES via an Adaptor)

i do agree about how they made a snow man which is suposed to be a friendly figure into a little bit hellish and freaky

i think i missed my edited comment on the last podcast so the last part was not read out. so here it is again

"Congrats to Tori for breaking the WR on Mr. Dwiwwer and i hope you guys can get a recorded version done and get it verified and added to the HS)"

i sort of dont agree with the uploadable HS and things. HS 1. should be personal compatition to try beat your own score and not loose your last score. (or in Shauns case, desicrate other peoples high score table
smiley36.gif
) not international compatition. and 2. it would be easy to mess with dip switches and upload un accurate scores.
Just standard HS kits should be available rather than uploadable ones

did you guys miss out announcing the next game or was i helusinating again

The high score kits that Jochen makes are an awesome bit of kit. I hope to speak to him soon about his work. I'm sure some kind of meta data gets sent with the high score to avoid 'cheating' - he is a VERY clever guy and does wonders with this hardware. He was showing me some stuff at Eurocade which REALLY impressed me...

Whoa, thanks for the new edition. Great report from Eurocade. And thanks for the shoutout! It was really nice talking to you guys, and I wish we could have chatted some more but the weekend just went so quickly. Next time!

New listener to these, caught the last 5 over the last week and they're awesome, great work!

I was laughing and saying in my head "There's a Red Cow in Reading near the Red Lion" and then Shaun even says he's trying to think of pubs in Reading!

Anyway, fully rekindled my desire to play old arcade games... as my Asteroids is currently in hospital I fired up the Supergun and New Zealand Story and played that for a bit.

yes, the dip-settings are uploaded as well...

and one mor

if somebody destroys your highscoretable on a meeting l(e.g. eurocade) - there is a backup-function to backup the current highscore-table BEFORE the people destroy them. after the event just restore the old HS-table.

but isn't it all about "destroying" highscore-tables on a friends cab? ;-) that's what i wanted at eurocade :)

Bonjour! thank you once again O mighty ten pencers for another great podcast. Listened 3 times already (that's because I have the short term memory of a gnat), and have been trying some of the other podcasts you have recommended but completely not managed to get into any of them, which must indicate you possess some kind of superior podcasting skills. So really old 10 pence podcasts it is instead then...

Loved the background noise in this one giving it a real live arcade & outside broadcast feel although the compression wrangled with it a bit.

Regarding CRTs and burn, the rear projection you mention are also CRT, but (I assume this bit) they are higher powered/somewhat different than your standard tube cos they have to project the image, hence why they burn like a swine. The later ones have LCD or DLP projectors in the back, hence don't get any burn, but I haven't personally ever seen any arcade machines that used them.

I would have assumed that manufacturers - perhaps only after the first few cabs - knew static & repetitive stuff would burn in, and like you suggest decided not to care! Particularly in then doing cabs with rear projection CRT where they were definitely going to burn in. My personal favourite is pole position, with it's whacking great big white GAME OVER burned into every cab made I guess.

Hi guys, finally got caught up with you. The good news is that you kept me going through lots of boring sanding, priming and painting; The bad news is that I am too late to leave any feedback, as my mental maths skills tell me that #46 should be just over the horizon.

I've made a few notes and I'll couple them together for next feedback.

Loving them though, some really good content.

Neil
