Inspired by the podcast, I got 360k on Megazone last night.

If I had the right set up I would have quite happily carried on playing this .
Does the map keep repeating it self ?
You must have gone round a few times Chuckie egg2014-03-13 09:08:20

I got to the end of the second loop round. That score beat my TG score, but obviously no way of submitting it at the moment, and even if there was, I wouldn't waste any money on paying to submit a score on such an insignificant game.

It gets considerably more difficult after the first loop, with a couple of new enemies and differing behaviours.

The poor sprite detection as mentioned in the podcast, never bothered me before, but I found it really irritating now.

Thanks Vic - maybe review Eyes at a later date? And no, it's not sh*t lol!

Tronads - 360K on Mega Zone is awesome! I've managed 94520 and got inside the last zone but I now may try to at least beat the boss. I put cheats on and had a look - mmm, not impossible. I've just purchased an X-Arcade Solo joystick, so that may help.

First time I've heard your podcast and I enjoyed it, thanks for the shout out as well! I'd blush if I had any shame...

Also, I *like* rolling thunder...but Mega Zone...*shudder*..., and Twinbee = good bee, but not a real bee

I only got 10/15 on the quiz

, I am so ashamed...

Also, I know the arcades you were talking about in the interview down at Folkestone, but unfortunately they've been demolished now

I'd confused this week's game, 'Rescue', for 'Lunar Rescue', so I got a surprise when I loaded it. It's a twin-stick game so I used my 360 controller. Did not like. Over-sensitive controls and the enemy bullets were sometimes hard to see on the day levels. And every so often the 'copters would spit out super-fast, super-accurate bullets. I've just given it up on a score of 24,720. Nice graphics though. Impressive parallax scrolling for the time.

Can't help thinking that Rescue would be a better game if you didn't have to save the little guys and could just fly around blasting the crap out of everything. They obviously couldn't call it 'Rescue' then; maybe they could call it 'Super Copter Assault 2084' or something.

I had to chuckle when I heard my old mate Dave O. mention that I'd come up with a picture of him playing in the "Dutch Stance". That post is here: http://www.ukvac.com/forum/south-coast-slam-worthing_topic328332_post752062.html

For the definitive "Dutch Stance", look no further than world class player Albert Nomden, from The Netherlands, first picture on this page: http://www.pinballnews.com/shows/sweden2005/

Great series of podcasts, guys, keep it up.

Given that you're running with 2 joysticks now, how about Libble Rabble as the featured game, by Toru Iwatani (of Pac-Man fame)? Never did work out how to play it, but back in the mists of time, I remember XY-Man chatting about how rare that game was (1996?). It looked quite fun. I think there's one or two around now, though. I also remember playing it somewhere with Robotgreg trying to workout what you were supposed to do.

See you at the Slam...

I have to say I love these Podcasts....and I have to admit I had avoided them at the start, mainly because I'm not really a podcast kind of listner, and they had been about games I wasn't interested in. It was only when James encouraged folk to "tune in" at the last party that I thought I would give them a go, and soon realised they were about more than just the game of the week. I've obviously gone through the back catalogue now.....well impressed.

That was at Andy Jones meet, my first ever ukvac meet back in 99. Think that's the only place I've ever seen it.
