[ukvac] The First Quarter (Not off topic as it's arcade etc related)
Morning Paul and all,
Glad to see you're pleased with `The First Quarter`, it's a superb book isn'
it?
Are Edge hyping the UK release then? I preorded mine from Amazon.com some
months back.
If anyone is umming and ahhing about getting this book. Stop!! Just buy it,
you won't regret it.
I knocked-up a quick review of the book on the amazon website, and was
pleasantly surprised when the author dropped me an e-mail to thank me for my
kind comments. He said that if a second edition came out, there would be a
few alterations. He refers to mipp-mapping at `mitt-mapping`, which he says
he would like to change, and he also refers to Sinclair as `Sinclaire`.
At present, a second edition looks unlikely.
I also agree about `Game Over` - another superb book. Well worth adding to
the old collection.
Bought `Trigger Happy` with the intention of taking it to Cuba on my hols.
Read through the book in small bits as you recommend. It is quite heacy
going, but certainly gets the mind going. Not an essential purchase though.
One book to avoid is `Phoenix`. It's an awful book with crap photos, and
some really bad typing errors - avoid at all costs!!!
By the way, there's another book on it's way out in August. Can't remember
what it's called, but it's on my amazon.co.uk pre-order list and is yet
another arcade history book.
