Do any of you guys know if there is a US equivalent of UK-VAC? I'm living
out in Southern California these days, but I'd be interested in seeing if
there's an arcade collecting scene here. I see a few cabs appear on eBay
and Craigslist, and I figured there must be something.

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

My understanding is that the whole thing started on RGVAC which is an NNTP newsgroup, mostly US based. A quick Google groups search has just proved to me that it is still active, sadly my ISP seem to have dropped their news server now though :( , I guess this is a sign of the times.

Cliff.

You will find nowadays that the US scene is very active on the KLOV
forums, they appear to have taken over from RGVAC as the place to
catchup with people.

You will find though, that the US scene is pretty spread out
geographically, and there isn't a close-knit community like here in
the UK... not that UKVAC has been particulary close-knit in the past
few years... But in the US, they only ever really have very small
groups of people that may or may not visit each other in one or two
larger cities or areas, there is nothing the equivalent of ukvac over
there.

Southerna California has traditionally always had a high proportion of
collectors, so you are likely to find quite an umber of locals at the
very least, where abouts are you and i could probaly point you to a
few, and tell you of a few ratbags to avoid :)
