Using rotary to usb

So I’m trying to get a rotatary encoder to work
I have connected it all up
But it won’t register?

Really appreciate any help.

I have tried gpio jump wires
And original rotary connection cables

In mame / input this game /.
Positional Analog Dec (turn left, default key is Z) -
But nothing happens ?

I tried swapping the number 1 & number 13 wire in case the ground was round the wrong way
But nothing happens either?

Did you ever get it to work?
I have the same problem for player 1 but works for player 2

I had to pack my stuff up to move house
And I’m bloody moving again !
I had similair result as you though
Some things are recognised but not others
Not sure if it’s the optipac at fault
I’ bought midnight resistance pcb now
So will at least be able to confim rotary

Got mine working, not used a pcb though.
my problem was advancemame not recognising it. All good with other emus used.

To be fair ..
I might try it on rgb pi
Or pi thingy

Easiest way to see if it’s working is on a windows pc. Open Notepad and then twist the joystick left and right. It should register then. Think mine registered as / and \
I forgot to try it on the 1 player lol so got that to do tomorrow.
Thinking back when I used it last which was ages ago the cable was already on player 2 so I must have had problems with it before.
Im using the pi thingy, works well with mame 0.78 but like I said not with advancemame.
Hope you get it fixed, there’s some really good rotary games available.
