Yeah, loads of games shamelessly pilfered from movies and TV.

My favourites are the Blake'7 theme nicked for Space Harrier and the Chase HQ poster's mustache ttransplant:

I think the Japanese stole a lot from 60's & 70's British Sci-Fi.
Although i bet we stole a fair bit from the yanks.

Interesting thought.

The Blake7 theme is amazing, But is the show any good ?

I have the same Ninja Mission and Ninja Warriors, never even thought it's similar to arcade games on the cover
Got Rage of Honour, Rage and Honour 2 , Revenge of the Ninja and Project A Jackie chan Ex Rental tapes, picked up some from charity shops

I like it but the special effects are poor even by the standards of the day (Doctor who got more of the budget I suspect and that looks pretty poor) the bbc never really repeated it and by the time I tracked it down online decades later the visual experience had hardly improved. The liberator looks okay in series 3 but before that most of the space scenes look hand illustrated. Paul Darrow is excellent as Avon and the animosity between him and Blake keeps things rattling along, the supporting cast can be pretty flaky but you don't get the line "I am not expendable, I'm not stupid and I'm not going" from one of captain Kirks away team and you do from this....

Also, I can't believe nobody has mentioned the hilarious free poster that came with 'Barbarian' on the C64 (etc) yet or its amazing similarity to a popular film from that era also (cough) Rastan saga.

Yeah, you'd think it's a coincidence, but you never know. It was on for 4 years prior to Hang-On and maybe exported.

Another one I remember from the last time we had a thread about this stuff:

(taken from here: )

Amazing, I don't think i ever knew it.
The Film is not bad either.

Regarding Hang-On.
Maybe Yu Suzuki was in the U.K when the show was on TV or saw it on the BBC World Service. ;)

Thinking about it more. unless that font was used in a film or in public before the tv show then it must've been inspired by it.
