From Mame 0.224 onwards they added "netlist" audio emulation for a few games like Astro Blaster, which is great but it's left the i3 4160 cpu in my cab struggling to play it at the correct speed.
I'm using Chunksin's GroovyTimePlus2 build & in the Attract mode frontend you can specify a custom executable on a per game basis, so you can have all the games playing in the latest version of groovymame but set a couple of games like Astro Blaster & Space Fury to run in version 0.223 instead (without needing to create a separate emulator display).
1. On the games list hit TAB to open the menu, select CONTROLS, scroll down to "EDIT GAME" & make sure it has a keybind (for me it is "E")
2. Back to the games list, select Astro Blaster & hit E to open the edit game menu
3. Scroll down to "Custom Executable" (near the bottom of the list) hit enter to edit and type in the path to the older Mame.exe e.g. (D:\Mame 0.223\Mame64.exe)
I can't find a No-Nag etc GroovyMAME 0.223 anywhere though
