New MultiPi JAMMA

From playing with it this week I'd say primarily the build and component quality, it's built to a very high standard with a lot of thought put into it. The JAMMA one also has a built in CTRLDock which is a low latency controller interface with support for analogue devices, spinners, trackballs etc.
Then it has full access to the PCI-E which I don't think you have on a regular Pi, so you can do things like use NVME storage carts instead of SD Cards.
I'll put a video out next week showing it, but ultimately, it's just another option and choice is always nice to have when weighing up what you do/don't need in your own build.

If you have contact with the makers, tell them that this board, like all of the other raspberry jamma things is missing an small UPS that can hold power for like 30 seconds and let it shut down in peace. Everybody is tired of the corupted sd cards.

That’s a nice idea. I wonder if the same applies when using NVME storage?

Its a pretty cool looking device but I'd say at nearly £300 too expensive for most, and a bit late to market. I would have thought a Mister / Jamma interface would have been a better idea to compete with Irken Labs and Mistercade.

Yes i ve brought one and and i thought it was a decent bit of kit, until it killed three sd cards and a usb stick, allthough my rasberry pi 400 works fine so not sure why that is.

Let me know if I can help, we had the MultiPi JAMMA on test in the Arcade archive for many months and in various Arcade machines for over 1 year before the launch of the system. We mostly use RGBPi as this seems very forgiving with power cycles. But with most Pi based systems it's a good idea to shut down correctly and wait around 10 seconds before pulling the power to the machine.
What type of SD cards are you using? We use industrial Transend and standard consumer Sandisk Pro cards without any problems.

Very happy to help if you need anything else?

Isnt there a way around sd card corruption by making the OS read only and then moving any files that need writing too onto a USB stick.

Pretty sure thats what something like groovymame or someones linux image did.

EDIT: Something like this. https://core-electronics.com.au/guides/read-only-raspberry-pi/
Making it read-only will require modification to the image to store all the settings, high scores and so on, on different partition or usb stick.

I managed to use an already made sd card that I have in my rgb-pi board. Every time it boot is asking me to map the controls. No idea how to coin up an game and exit. This is shit.
