Just heard about these modern replacements for old ROMs. Wondering how useful they might be for game board repair and modding. Think you can have multiple ROM images on them, and stuff...

PicoROM has the USB on top and is very good since there isn't always access on eprom sides.

But OneRom has support for 40pin eproms, mask roms and so on. If OneRom moves the USB connector on top, then is an great tool to have.

Usefull for board repairs and so on.

I have the OneROM Fire 28 and Fire 24 pin versions based on the RP2350 Pico chip. I can confirm the Fire 24 works in an Asteroids board, but that's all I've tried it with.

I'm wary of the USB cable link warnings though, as you don't want to try and power up an arcade board via the USB port on your PC!

So I've been unplugging from the board socket, re-programming with a USB cable and then inserting back in to the board. Not ideal for potential damage, though no worse that burning EPROM's the old way.

What I'd really like to get working is the Piers Rocks Airfrog WiFi link that allows wireless OneROM updates. But the PCB isn't available to buy like the OneROM.
