1942 Challenging stage

I’ve been playing a lot of 1942 recently.
Seem to remember (maybe mis-remembered!) a ‘challenging’ stage that came up a few rounds in.
Was this different according to which version you play?

i dont remember it, but i seem to have some vague memory about a boss fight but i played that many different games in the 80's, i am probably mixing it up with another shooter of the same ilk, great game though. I actually prefer 1942 to the later versions.

Every few levels there’s one where they don’t fire. I see that a the challenging stage to just chill and get a high %

There is indeed a boss stage, 3 or 4 of the same boss iirc before you finish it.

Probably my favourite shooter of all time. Frantic, non nonsense, tough but not unfair. I have the insert credit sound as my phone alert 😄
