Arcade cab replicas

Dunno how many of you are on DLF, but if not have a look on there for the most amazing scratch built replicas of arcade cabs from the golden era done by Scr33n!
Totally awesome builds using original coin doors, marquees, screen glass and CP's, and the cabs built from MDF. All the artwork added, and in most (all?) cases, a CRT TV is used hooked up to an emulation of some form or other.

Has anyone in the UK tried this? If so, how's about showing all what you've achieved? I'm thinking of making a Galaga.

You're right Oll, he made the white Galaga / Bosconian cab. Didn't look bad neither, just needed the artwork as I remember...

....got the idea funnily enough from the guy on DLF as well......

fair do's the replica idea isn't to everyones taste,but its the challenge of such a job that really appeals to me,also it'll be a mint cab at the end of the job as well....

i was tempted to do a donkey kong cab after wanting one for sometime now and keep missing out on one,but i do like a bargain too

Yep great skills on screens replicas, sure its not the real deal, but that level of detail is admirable and a scratch build is a lot of fun.

Jase galaga would be my choice too, Saleems Bosconian/galaga was/is the only Galaga I know of in the uk.

Eyup Russ! Well you've got first dibs on all the parts. And yeah, it'll be a mint cab alright. Got to be better than trying to salvage that pile of firewood the parts are bolted onto!

I really fancied the challenge of restoring this though, it'd be the resto to end all resto's, but alas I never seem to get the time.

Go on Phil, get out the jigsaw and get one built! Actually, I can't believe he cuts it all with a jigsaw. No matter how steady I go with it, I can't keep to the lines. Definitely a talented bloke! That Tempest blows me away!

I'll most likely be selling a restored DK next year Phil, it will be up for sale here anyhow.

I use Jigsaws everyday at work and it does take a lot to make a super straight clean cut with one...When I do mine i'll have to use a jigsaw for any curved parts but majority of cuts will be done on a crosscut saw and a ripsaw,gueranteed straight cuts
