[ukvac] Arcade Closing! Cheap stock sell off

Don't know if its useful to anyone but someone I know has just come back from Blackpool and saw an arcade doing a mass sell off. It's being changed into a Casino at the weekend and they were dumping all the stock. The prices were as low as £5.00 and everything else was ment to be piss cheap! When asked what was there he said "they were all old" but he's not into it so no idea of specifics.

No way I can get up there by the weekend (

The only info I got is that it might be called "Ocean Amusements" and it's just off the front.

Sorry it's a bit vague but hopefully its of some use to one of you.

Happy Hunting

Matt.

Does anyone know where this is ?

I drove round for ages last night but didn't find it. Also no one who lives
near the prom has heard of it

>sure it wasn't posted a day early?

I think it was, there no "ocean amusements" in blackpool,
and the only arcade which is seeking permision to convert
to a casino is still awaiting permission. Its ("The Oasis")
currently closed down after the massive end of season
fire next door at "Grab City" damaged the building.

As for classics still availble in blackpool hahahahaha
the only ones left are held on by operators who properly
want 4 to 5 times the price for mint stuff on ebay

Cheers

Yep, thats right, the hoteliers were saying "Don't you mean Oasis" but as
far as I know they are not being knocked down on the weekend, and I know
they don't have a single old game.

Its there somewhere. Someone that won a machine off eBay was telling me
about it last weekend.

It was Buy one get one free for him, and all machines were £50 each.

He bagged a dedicated Atari Klax, 720, 4wd Riot and a few others I can't
remember

wc90 is old!

The oldest game at Oasis was like Dance Dance Dance Dance Dance 17th Mega
Ultra Giga Mega Mega Mix Volume 19

They had lots of old fruit machines though.

Yea... Maybe a Phoenix will rise from the Ashes ???

Ha, Ha ... 12:30 at night... and "Several People" had to
be "rescued" from the pub.

I was nearly going to drive up there last night myself... But hey,
Most of Blackpool is 'just off the front' so I guess this would make
for a long search.

Cheers,
Col

I like this quote from the BBC article:

"Thirty people were evacuated from nearby flats and taken to a local hotel,
after initially being taken to a McDonald's restaurant."

They clearly realised that on further inspection the food in the McDonalds was
not fit for human consumption so they'd better move them to a real eating
establishment :O)

Re: [ukvac] Re: Arcade Closing! Cheap stock sell off
Could someone who knows someone or someone who knows someone who bought some
machines from this place on ebay or someone who knows where it is please
find out ?

This weekend is knockdown day and no one who lives here can find it. There
could be innocent machines going to waste.

Everyone who knows is probably keeping quiet about it hoping they can get
here at the last minute and snap them all up cheap.

Come on guys, share the location..... I've done loads of driving round. I
got stopped by the police last night to ask me what I was doing, they havn't
heard of it either.

I can't believe there is a classics arcade here in Blackpool that everyones
been keeping quiet, and now its going

Don't know if it helps, but in August last year I had a meeting in Manchester and Cardiff City were playing in Oldham the next day so went to Blackpool overnight and cruised the Golden Mile. I walked from one end to the other and went in every arcade on the sea front. There was only one arcade that had any classics in. This one that was located quite near to the pleasure beach, on the front but also had a side entrance( you would be facing the side if you were driving from the pleasure beach to the tower. I can't remember what it was called. but it had the follwing in it.

space invader part II with a new electronic coin mech, a ms. pacman in a generic cab, a konami counter run and 2 or 3 more older games , a rescue 911 pinball and it had loads of fruit machines from the late 80's in it.

All the others had nothing of interest in at all, so that is the only one that I can think of that you may be talking about.

Simon

Thats Whitesides and its not getting knocked down.

> space invader part II with a new electronic coin mech,

last time (mid last year) they were all on 10p play mechanical mech and one
of the 3 had a screen full of garbage and another the monitor was on its way
out.

Don't forget that the highlight of the arcade is the Defender with track and
field in it, no sound, sprite corruption and the monitor picture is really
red with flyback lines.
