How come operators have so much old stock. Did most of them have to buy the machines and then just put new ones in as they come ? I guess years ago without ebay difficult to shift stuff.

Just amazes me in those pictures the amount of stock !

I had assumed as a lot of machines are expensive they would kind of rent them, especially fruit machines as youd think they would change like the wind.

My favourite fruit machine was pink panther at stoke on trent in a pub somewhere.

I visited a man about a nee geo and he had like 5 fruit machines he was giving away but mrs at broke her leg and was just not the right time to come home with any ! Regret that as always fancied a fruitie, but not somthing I'd really want to spend money on !

Hey all,
I thought I’d document what became of the Sega cages :)
The Sega Rally works: -

Although I don’t think I’ll be doing much racing in that cab

It was easier to pull that cab out rather than dismantling the Sega Rally Deluxe’s bumper!

The Virtua Cop needs a new CPU board, but I’m sure I’ll be able to resurrect it with a spare from my Daytona stash

Many thanks again Jase

I'm really pleased the Sega Rally is working, and hopefully you manage to get the Virtua Cop up and running without too much trouble. Two classics saved and gone to a good home, I'm well pleased with that. Enjoy the games.

Today I went back to see the Op. On arrival he showed me a big box of PCB’s, which was totally unexpected and an awesome surprise! He had found these boards a few days ago, and there is a bit of a story behind them. He once had a row of Electrocoin Goliath cabs in a sports hall, and the boards are all out of those cabs. Apparently they had table tennis in the sports hall. The balls kept getting lost behind the cabs and so the cabs had to go!

I had another rummage and grabbed a few more bits. In addition to the boards, I picked up two Sega cages, which I think are Sega Rally and Virtua Cop, and a crossbow. Yes that’s right, a crossbow!

I picked up a Konami Viper board marked as faulty. I'm not sure what the game is, but it could be Silent Scope as there were a few of the sniper rifles in the store room.

I've just checked through the game boards, here is the list of titles.

1. Ghosts 'n Goblins - Capcom
2. Legend of Tonma (with original license seal) - Irem
3. Major Title 2 - Irem
4. Mr. Do! - Universal
5. Street Fighter II' Champion Edition MSTREET-6 Bootleg
6. Street Smart - SNK
7. Street Smart Bootleg

Quite a cool little selection, I'm especially pleased with Legend of Tonma.

I remember playing Street Smart back in the day and quite liking it, that ones definitely a guilty pleasure!

Irem MT2 = ripe for conversion to something far tastier....

Mr Do with amp & adapter £70 all day long.

G&G - is worth a pretty penny too.

There's about £700 worth of PCB's in that list if they all work.
