Success, The hitachi chips worked! Basically I needed a non-jedec chip. Popped in a b-21 c-board and all is good. Finding a original b-13 board is pretty unlikely so this is a good work around! Thank you for all the help and the great tool!

I think its a Jdec / Non jdec issue. I have patched the files and sent them to him but did not have time to try them on my own board. If push comes to shove I will test it for you / Him.

Dave,

Super. Dont forget to donate a little to Aaron if you can. It will help him do more in the future.

Dave.

I am having an issue with Gunsmoke US Set 2 using Arcade Rom Patcher v11. The inversion works, but when it gets to gameplay, the game resets. I have verified that it has US Set 2 roms, but trying US Set 1 and US Set 2, I get the same result. Using the original or programming a new 9n with out the patch appears to work fine.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Nevermind :p I tried gunsmokeu and it worked. I apparently don't know how to tell what romset I have, haha. I was pulling roms and checking romident, but brute force did it. Thanks!

Thank you for this tool!

I used the autodetect but it would set it to gunsmokeub, which is how it was identified. I am not sure if my board has a mix of roms, but only gunsmokeu worked without crashing when game play began in attract or when coining up.

ummmm, just checked and the Gunsmoke patches only affect one rom and all six versions that I have patched have different checksums. So it doesn't make much sense that it wasn't detected correctly.

gunsmoke "gs03.09n" CRC(40a06cef)
gunsmokeb "3.ic85" CRC(ae6f4b75)
gunsmokej "gsj_03.09n" CRC(b56b5df6)
gunsmokeu "gsa_03.9n" CRC(51dc3f76)
gunsmokeua "gsr_03a.9n" CRC(2f6e6ad7)
gunsmokeub "gsr_03.9n" CRC(592f211b)

It was detected correctly as it was gunsmokeub, but it caused my game to reset when gameplay started. I tried all the US ones and gunsmokeu worked :)

I think I figured out what I did wrong :X I didn't use the autodetect on my actually 9n rom, I checked against romident and it pulled the wrong one, then I downloaded that versions and tried it.

I should just use my actual rom to save myself from trouble :)

Thanks again for this tool!

Well GumsmokeUB works perfectly for me. You are missing my point in that if your other roms are of a different set you will have other problems, perhaps further into the game than you have been. It is a good idea to make sure that your board is programmed with a matching set.

If you check out the image I posted, I think it shows my mistake as romident pulls gunsmokeua instead of gunsmokeu with that CRC :)

Checking arcaderestoration.com, I think Hamster's website is out of date with romsets:

Sorry about my earlier post, I had read the emailed version which didn't show the attachment!
Yes, even though I refer the the Mame sets it is generally best to read in a copy of your own roms to patch. You don't have to name them correctly as the Patcher will check the files signatures.
One tip is that if you roughly know the game/version is to use the Patch Info button which will list the roms required for patching so you don't have to read all your roms in.

There's apparently a Mr. Do! Run Run ROMset that will run on a Mr. Do!'s Castle board, but I'm not sure what the modifications involve. I have a couple of extra Mr. Do!'s Castle boards that I'd like to convert to Jumping Jack, and I'm tempted to burn a ROM set for it just to see what happens. Problem is, that would require at least 2 PROMs and blanks of those are getting mighty rare and expensive.

A multi for this hardware would be pretty cool.

Where can I get the dual CS SRAM adapter PCB that Sky Shark and the M72 games need? I can't seem to find a source for it.

Wow! Incredible work.

Are you able to make a high score patch for Cosmic Avenger? (same board as Mr Do!) If you need a PCB to make it im happy to loan you my spare and pay shipping both ways + a donation to your project.

Great work.

It looks possible from the MAME source but if it was a simple ROM swap someone would have done it already. Might try it later just to see what happens.

Good point. Using one of those adapter boards would make experimentation easier.

The games on this hardware all seem to run the third CPU off of an 82S147 type PROM. Interestingly, Do! Run Run and Jumping Jack seem to use the same ROM for this CPU.
