I had the boards repaired by RetroClinic, so I know they are all good ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7UsYTdEjQk

The control panel buttons both work.

One of the steering wheels works, the other not.

Both of the foot pedals don't work.

I can start a game and steer one of the cars but both pedal inputs act as if they are stuck on max throttle.

Willing and hoping for some on-site paid help or even willing to pay shipping costs to send this for repair if anyone can help.

Unfortunately, I don't have the spare time capacity or skill set to self repair this.

If you can help, please message via pm or jameswelsh250@gmail.com

Happy to provide a lift to Stoke and back, no problem.

The machine is in Lichfield.

Would be great if we can arrange a date for this.

Had a look at this machine now and the fault with the pedals is down to the pots so have bought the pedals home to fit replacement pots.

Looking around the proper heavy duty pots are around £50 a piece so since this machine isn't going to have the heavy use it would get if it was in an arcade normal cheap pots should suffice.

Anyone got any experience of replacing the pots on the peddles of this (or other atari driving games)?

Did you use normal pots or invest in the heavy duty ones?

Nice one for helping out Lurch,

Pots are such a common fault on these due to the age....

No idea about light duty pots, if the correct value is right prob work fine, if it were me id think twice about sticking a cheap part in a machine that costs probably £1500 these days, id probably go the whole hog and get proper ones.

I got these for mine

swapping them over is nice and easy,

I'm thinking the heavy duty pots are for when the cab is in an arcade and getting used constantly.

A home use cab isn't played nearly enough to wear cheap pots out so quickly.

What I'm thinking is since moonchalk has two sets of pedals I can fit them both with cheap pots and then he can see how long the pedals last. If it's a year or so under light use then two sets of pedals will last him a good long time.

It's either that or spend around £100 quid on four of those stryker posted (which are at least cheaper than the ones I found for £50 a piece)

You have to be careful with pots as some have different ranges of rotation and also the shaft diameter can vary. Also, they generally need to be linear pots (not audio / log pots).ColinD2022-09-20 16:02:53

I removed a pot from the pedals so I could check dimensions.

I know they are linear pots that are needed and hopefully the smaller bodies of newer pots won't make any difference.
